Rolex Datejust 36 bezels interchangeable?

Question. I have a 1984 36mm 16030 Datejust with guilloche/engine turned bezel. I'm looking to getting a fluted bezel to swap. Can any 36mm fluted bezel be used as long as it is off of a 5 digit model? Such as from 16014 or 16234? A 4 digit or a 6 digit would not work?

How difficult is it to remove a bezel. Isn't it welded on?

Officially Rolex doesn't want you to do this, but to anser the question: yes they're interchangeable. But only those from the same generation.

You can take them off with a thin watchmaker's pocket knife, or with the Rolex bezel knife tool. I prefer a knife, it's quite easy.

Thanks for the information. It is amazing bezels just don't fall off from a jolt or two just the right way.

When you say same generation do you mean same digit reference? So i can interchange bezels from any 5 digit 16000 series? Mine is 16030. So technically I can use bezels from 16013, 16014, 16200, 16220, 16233 or 16234? Just want to make sure before i make any bezel purchase and take it to my watchmaker. Thank you.

They're pressed on with considerable force. It's a very tight fit.

Yes, that is correct.

I don’t believe the RSC would sell you the new bezel. This would change the reference of the watch.

But Engine turned bezels are just cool. I’d leave it alone.
