quarter century club problem with stem and crown

Hi everybody I have a question for the professionals.

I just cleaned my quarter century club and pulled out the stem with crown and all of a sudden the stem with the crown was wiggling around, I could not make the stem with the crown go in properly anymore and I could not pull it totally out of the movement either.

After that I took out the movement and loosened up the retention screw and got the stem with the crown out, examined it and it appears to me that it is not broken, but I do not know for sure, first time that I have opened that watch and seen one of those movements.

Then I tried to put the stem with the crown back in but can not figure out to make it "snap" into place it goes in there but it still wiggles around, any trick here or what do I have to do. I will enclose 2 pictures, thanks in advance for your help

Oliver

Sorry to say but the stem is broken. The square shoulder that goes into the slide pinion is missing and still in the watch. It will have to be dissasembled to remove the broken part and a new one installed if you can find one. If not one will have to be made on a lathe.I'd have to look in my book to get the calibre number don't see to many real early movements anymore or any less for that matter. It is best on these older movements to detente the crown before removal this locks the slide pinion in place making it easier to install. Rik the watchmaker
