6024 info on the dial

Hello all,


I recently got into possesion 6024 model, 36mm case, superoyster crown and lugs drilled on one side. Mine as well has 866XXX serial.

There are very little references online but from what I see here it's kind of a rare piece.

I love the watch, and I assumed dial was redone since it's so clean as well as hands relumed or replaced at some point.

I did look at fonts comparison from one watch that I found sold at southersby and I think they match so I'm wondering is dial was just cleaned somehow to this point or was it repainted or redone.

I'll keep the watch in any case. I love the story behind it and it's running great.

My explorer 2 is currently at service so I plan to take this one to Rolex to have them look at it as well once I go pick up my explorer.

Here are some pics and comparison of dial fonts with same model that I fould sold at souhersby auction (patinad dial)

Even the hands kinda look similar in lume color and bubbling.

Any additional info on the watch and it's dial / hands is appreciated, thanks!

The side of the numerals are painted white. Is it an embossed plastic dial?

I think that's a reflection from the dial on numerals as initially I thought the same. But not sure really.

I was looking at the photo taken from an angle and zoomed in on the "4".

Maybe you are right, here is the ref picture of that other model found online. Looks like it also has side paint (6 for example).
