Advise selling
Hi everyone
I want to sell my watch. Posted an ad on Facebook. Some one is showing interest. He might be for real but there a chance he’s a crock. He might come to “see” the Watch and rob me. This is very extreme I know. But because of nearly 50000$ worth every thing can be. Any advice ? Thanks |

Sell to a trusted dealer, one with brick and mortar store. With all the scams and robberies around, it’s not worth taking the risks

My 82yo father just got ripped off selling his truck. Guy came to his property asking if he'd sell it. My dad gave him a price. He came back with cash. They counted it, signed the title. Then the guy put on an act like he was having second thoughts, wanted to hold the envelope of cash and look over the truck. He sat in the drivers seat for just a moment, hopped out and said he was good. Guy drove off, my dad goes inside and notices there's $2900 missing. Truck was on Craigslist a few days later.
It's a crazy world out there. I would only sell my watches to a trusted seller, even if I got less. It's just not worth the headache. A friend of mine buys and sells on Craigslist a few times a year. He insists on meeting at the local police department. A lot of people decline at the mention of it. |

First: take it off FB. You probably have way to much info on there, like pictures that may be linked to your home address.
Second: selling to a business is safer, but comes at a price (their margin). Third: if you want to sell yourself my advise would be to rent a meeting room at one of those co-working office buildings or some other business center. Pick one where the meeting rooms are not near the exits and where every visitor has to check in. That should deter most ill-meaning 'buyers'. If someone tries to push for a different location you'll know what's up. Also; bring a friend to the meeting, a security guard if you are insecure. 50K is enough to warrant it. |
