My Rolex Submariner no date 114060

Dear watch lovers,

The day before yesterday, I purchased the (provisional) conclusion of my watch addiction, a Rolex Submariner 114060, the no date. for a while now I been looking for the one, the one where everything fits. Now I have found her.

What can I tell you, it's as if you've arrived somewhere, have completed a difficult stage and are at your destination. I have no idea how long this will last, but at this moment everything is fine for me in terms of watches.

The no date really has everything you could dream of. I can only agree with that. The ceramic bezel means you have less fear when wearing it, the clasp is solid and valuable and clicks as robustly as the door of a luxury sedan when closing. It shines differently than all my other watches, brighter, longer, and weighs considerably more than its older sister. You can tell I'm excited. Even finding the laser crown using a watchmaker's loupe was a joyful event; my wife rolled her eyes.

I have found THE watch for me. The box is well filled, a chronograph is still missing (Tudor preferred), but I'm starting to think that I have everything I need for the moment.

I certainly don't need to say anything about the technical details of the watch, I once again took a few (sloppy) pictures that I don't want to withhold from you. They can't keep up with Plein's wonderful photos, but they show you my treasure, which I certainly won't give away again...

The 114060 is my favorite watch in my small collection. I’ll never get rid of it, it’s perfection. Congrats on the new addition. Enjoy it for many years.

It's bulky. It's chunky. It's just stumbled out of a bar at 3am, looking for a fight.

And it's exactly what the Submariner always wanted to be.

The 12-series "fixed" the proportions; its case is, "Prettier." But the Submariner doesn't want to be pretty; it wants to hunt.

If you want elegance, go 12-series.

If you want character, 11-series all the way ...

Congrats! Great watch!
I went for the 124060 as I could get it at retail from an AD, but otherwise I just love the 114060 just as much :)

Owning the 3 latest models of subs/sub dates (5 digit, 11 & 12 series), this is pretty spot on (and funny as well). The 11 series do seem to have a bit of "in your face" to it.

Great choice and congratulations!

Even with the 126610 and 16610, I knew needed the 114060 as well. It’s my everyday watch and I’m in the honeymoon stage just like you

Want to learn the differences.

Basically for the 12 they kept the dimensions almost exactly the same as the 11 but made the bracelet slightly wider to make the lugs appear thinner and “better” tapered. The taper on the bracelet is a bit less too which results in more continuity from the watch head down the bracelet.

The 11 puts more emphasis on the watch head which gives it a very hefty appearance while retaining the 40ish mm sizing… although I believe the 5 digit versions fall just under.

Someone did post a side by side just above your post. The middle is the 11 the right is the 12 and the left is a 16610 (5 digit).
