Speedy 321 or Snoopy 50th as second watch

So say you got your daily beater. Which would you choose as your only other watch? Speedy 321 or Snoopy? For me, it would be hard but I think I would choose 321. That watch has everything I love. The Snoopy is cool too. I like the color palette and case back. Wish they would have put the snoopy on the bottom dial to make it more asymmetrical though.

Or maybe the 321 as a daily with the Snoopy as the weekend watch?

321 as the Snoopy (at least the latest version) is a cartoonish watch IMHO

Two watch only collection... 321.

I couldn't see a snoopy being suitable for a "best" watch if you only have a beater to complement it. If you could have a dressier watch too, then maybe the snoopy gets a look in.

The 321 for me hands down. I think the Snoopy is a fun watch but one I would not wear much.

321 for me.

The Snoopy is also a great watch but this one just feels so special and the history of it just wins easily for me

To be honest, the 321 is the smart choice...but Snoopy gets more wrist time.

If you’re a real Apollo freak go 321. If not, Snoopy to free your inner child

This^. The 321 makes the most sense but so does oatmeal. Every once in a while it’s nice to have Lucky Charms.

Yet another win-win situation here. You seem to be leaning towards the 321, so should follow your instinct and go that route.

I would happily take either, truthfully. The Snoopy piece has its place in Speedmaster history. However, the vintage styling of the 321 and all accomplishments tied to the original piece make me sort of lean in this direction as well.

Well, I do have a 321. I’m going to be able to get a Snoopy before end of the year my OB told me. I originally hit a hard patch and had to sell of my collection. I’m rebuilding and so far I got a 16570 Polar, Speedy 321, and Planet Ocean 75th Anniversary. If I add the Snoopy, it will probably put a little strain on the finances right now but I’m not sure it would be a good idea passing it up as I’m sure it will be discontinued. I can sell my 16570 to lighten the cost but not sure. I love my 321. That watch will not leave my humble collection god permitting. I’m just wondering if adding another Speedy(Snoopy) would be a good idea.

So really I’m wondering if I’m better off with my diver, chrono, gmt and just skip the Snoopy or go with diver, 2 chronos and then add another 16570 or possibly a red/blue or black/blue gmt later. I know it boils down to me but like to hear other opinions.

Food for thought, but if you previously hit a hard patch forcing selling, why rebuild the collection so quickly when you acknowledge again yourself adding another would stress the finances? They’re just watches, and money permitting they’ll always be available. I’d sooner buy something at $20k comfortably knowing finances are in order than buying something at 10k with stress.

Good point. Might be best to be happy with what I got right now. I’m sure there will be a snoopy 4, 5 and 6 later lol.

Fair point :) I imagine another Snoopy will be along in 2 years for the 55th anniversary lol

I think if you explain to the boutique that you want the watch, but ask can your spot be deferred for say 6 months, they would understand. It should still be in production for a little while and if your finances allow at that point then you can buy it. It also gives you time to consider if you want to sell something else to fund it.

I look at collectable watches as another form of an asset. I also believe that if offered at retail, you are making a good and fair purchase. The watch will bring you joy and it will be fun to wear. I would make it work. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

The Snoopy thing never did anything for me so the 321 is my vote.
