1986 GMT from Hessfineauctions

Here is a 1986 GMT II (model not stated but probably a 16760) with box and papers listed by hessfineauctions.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1986-SS-Rolex-GM...d=p3286.c0.m14

I don't know if this is another one of their "listing errors" but the box is about eight years newer than the watch, the booklets are about 15 years newer than the watch and I didn't see any "papers" which refer to the warranty paper.

Maybe Jeff Hess, since he is a member here, would like to correct this listing, as there are several errors in it.

In the mean time, if you are buying, watchout for this one.

Thanks in advance Jeff Hess.

Description: You are bidding on a 1986 SS Rolex GMT Master II w/Box & Papers. It is in great shape. It has very mild surface scratches on the case and bracelet. The luminosity has faded from the dial and hands and will need to be re applied if you choose to.
The lumious is not faded but has fallen out of the hour hand.I wonder why this wasnt changed out during a service? How long will a watch run with that stuff floating around inside?Probably employee error.

"Probably employee error"

Probably Nicos, at least that has been the explanation in the past.

It has to be he is a smart business man he knows a $30.00 hour hand would get him way more money for that watch.

howdy.

Been busy opening a new store. have no idea what this watch is all about. But will inspect it in the A.M. The poster is a new guy. (you can always figure out the poster by his name or initials in the upper left of the listing).

I have no idea why this would be listed in the watchout section, or what the big deal is. Other than it looks like a fat lady and we should relist it as such. The poster did make a mistake by listing gram weight under warranty.

Anyway, I was alerted to this thread via email tonight and will ask Katrina about it in the morning. the watch looks like something they bought recently and looks straight up to me.

Thanks for your interest.

Thanks Jeff. In case you didn't read my post, here it is again and the reason I posted it here, as we seem to have many new members here who love to shop the bay:

ok, thanks "Springer"

Katrina says you cannot change the auctions once bids are placed.

could very well be a newer box.

And again, since we do not hide behind nom de plumes, pseudonyms or Avatars, you can generally always see who the poster is by the name in the upper left corner of our auctions.

Jeff

She will get this straightened out in the A.M. but it looks like a pretty good description to me. Cheers!

Got in early this AM (5 o'clock) since we had a break-in in our antique store last night! (They tried to get into our jewelry store but could get in!)
Quite a deal. The morons stole two laptops and walked right by rather expensive things.

Anyway, there are not papers for this watch at all. Just booklets and stuff. So it had to be relisted anyway. The poster is relisting it as I type.

Thanks to those who alerted me via email about this last night.

This watch was re-listed and reads that it is complete with papers. There are no papers depicted in the listing. And those boxes and manuals aren't close to being original for the watch.

Probably employee error He offers a full refund and I have never heard anybody say that he scammed them.
But 1 would think that the person that wrote a book on Rolex would at least when using his name get the listing right
It is being sold by a company bearing his name.
It has to be frustrating when you run a business and employees cant get it right
Maybe since Jeff is a member here and shares our passion for these watches he can offer something like a 10% discount to forum members in the future?
