Travis Scott is a terrible person and it's a shame AP is working with him...

The latest AP release is really disappointing to say the least. From a design aesthetic there are many problems that would send Genta realing; yet, design isn't the issue here. The issue is that AP has chosen to work with a known narcissistic sociopath whose actions have caused injury and death to many innocent bystanders.

Another redditor summarized some of his more recent controversies that show a pattern of irresponsibility that is frankly disgusting:

https://www.reddit.com/r/KUWTKsnark/...controversies/

And even a little digging shows several more stories of peoples negatives encounters with Travis Scott such as leaving his former manager for dead while he was having a seizure and Travis leaving without assisting him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DG0h84wXUQ

Or the time Travis encouraged his fans to beat up his security: https://www.reddit.com/r/Kanye/comme..._for_a_travis/

Or the time Travis told a fan to jump off a building and is now paralyzed: https://www.today.com/news/man-paral...oworld-t237987

The list goes on. I literally could post another 50 stories of this man being an absolutely terrible person.

This is really one of the biggest missteps AP has ever made and really makes me question the brands direction. I don't care if AP makes a Spider-Man watch, I care when they act morally bankrupt and let a guy like this into the factory. Let Travis Scott fling sneakers and McDouble's, he has no business being part of AP's history.

Totally agree. Travis Scott is a garbage human being. I just don’t understand why AP felt the need to do this collaboration.

I feel like this is more FB leaving party... all his idea and the AP team just had to say yes and thanks.
Hopfully the new CEO looks at better role models (as well as AP fans) for ambassadors.

I was never a fan of AP or Scott. So, to me at least, it is not a surprise. Rolex knows what they are doing, AP, not so much. I think this was a desperate move. Not sure current leadership at AP knows what they are doing.

Im having the same line of thought, expecting Nike to have done proper due diligence.

Going down the wrong path doing collaborations but I suppose AP must be getting desperate. The brand is drastically changing and maybe FB has timed his departure perfectly. Taken AP to the top but only looks down hill now

He became interim CEO in 2012 and the role became permanent in 2013. FHB has always said that 10 years is a good tenure to measure CEO's impact and thought it was a good moment to leave at the end of 2022 but was asked by the board to stay until the end of 2023. This will mark 29 years with the company.
The brand has never been as strong as it is now and his departure was planned already 1.5 years ahead.

I didn't know about this guy before I read it here.
There seem to be controversies around him. But he has done a lot of collaborations with very famous brands.

I would have personally preferred one final collaborations with JayZ also to mark the 30th anniversary of the ROO.

Have to agree on being extremely selective on collaboration with 'famous brand or people'. It's not necessary to do all these X somebody or something. Having said this, I am quite excited about the collaboration with John mayer. This talented guy is a really genuine watch collector .

Not really a fan of collaborations in general unless there’s some sort of meaning for the brand.

IMHO it’s a nice looking watch though

Maybe a subtle way of collaboration , instead of an X there and here. Kelvin Hart and AP. is a great example of good collaboration. Also, Roger federer and rolex are a dream collaboration . This brand doesn't need an X something.

Which of course explains why APs revenue has been growing quite a bit faster than Rolex's over the last decade.

I have never heard of this guy prior the collab, googled him, oh a rapper.
I wonder who AP's target audience is for this collab.

I have nothing but negative comments to add to this thread in regards to these so called influencers. Many are not a force that promote positive values IMHO. More like the accumulation of luxury items, while promoting a less than wholesome outlook where crime and violence get you top the top. That said, yes, some are at the top of their sport and also tend to embody entitlement and a lack of common sense. But hey! Put a gold watch on that wrist!

So, who should be permitted to acquire these fine Swiss timepieces? Assorted gentry and hard-working captains of industry?

AP used to be my favorite brand but not anymore. I don’t like the direction they are going but I’m a small fish so my opinion doesn’t mean much to them. I guess what matters is the marketing and collaborations bringing in more revenue.

I have no problem with rappers getting watches and partnerships, J. Cole, Kendrick, Drake, Eminem, etc. are all far more important to the culture and are way better choices to create a partnership with.

J Cole doesn't wear jewelry and him and Kendrick have no brand. you can't even compare those 2 numbers wise to Travis either. this was clearly a move for brand awareness more than anything about morality or whatever else. Drake would be massive and obviously a better choice to do an OVO x AP collab but he probably didn't want to or was too busy. he's also in a lot of public beefs and drops subtle disses to boost his streaming numbers so maybe that was a turnoff

Em is a legend and i grew up on his music but gen z'ers don't rock with him like that. they all see him as being corny because they only know his albums post 2010 and are too woke for his music. his fan base is already grown up and buying these watches and just imagine the PR disaster AP would have because of all the stuff em rapped about lol

Kendrick and his manager have a strong “in” with AP. They’re at the AP House in meatpacking all the time. Probably off brand to do a collab w them but who knows now with PgLang

They’ve both increasingly been wearing AP

Looping back to your first post, I assume you are aware that Drake performed with Scott during the Astroworld concert?
