Rounding out the collection. Which of the 2?

I'm itching to add a 4th watch to my collection, but cannot seem to choose which direction I should go in, but it's currently between two very different watches (price, design, usecase, everything).

Would love to know which direction you'd take the collection if you were in my shoes. Again, I understand these are 2 very different watches, so I'm just curious!

Here's my current collection, which I love and have no complaints about:

1) Patek Philippe Annual Calendar 5396G
2) Omega Speedmaster Ed White 321
3) Rolex Daytona 116520

And the two I am considering are:

1) Cartier Tank Louis WGTA0011

2) Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5065A

I am sure this won't be the popular opinion but I'd go with the Cartier. I'm not a fan of the Aquanaut

If the Aquanaut is attainable that would certainly be the way to go. The Cartier is very classy, love it, but it's a very limited occasion dress watch compared to the Aquanaut.

The aquanaut is such an incredible timepiece for its versatility and wearability.
From sand to tux it is never out of place.
unparel Legibility , thinness and water resistance.
For me no hesitation on this one.

Aquanaut if you can get it, so versatile and can be worn on any occasion.

Of those two, the Cartier by miles. Classic piece vs bland in every way.

These are really two very different pieces, so I think only you can truly decide which one is for you. Also, very different price brackets.

That said, personally, I would choose the Tank Louis over the Aquanaut 5065. Adds a bit more variety to your collection (rose gold, rectangular case/dial, leather strap, smaller size, etc).

I would have a tougher time choosing between the 5167A and Tank Louis, however...

If its the aquanaut 5168g then I’d do it in a heartbeat. Smaller/older Aquanauts don’t appeal to me.

My wife has that tank….it is gorgeous but it wears on the small size. I would make sure to try one on before you buy.

Vastly different watches. I think I would go Cartier on this one.

I just don't get the Aquanaut at the prices they are.

I would add a color dial to your collection. Maybe a blue or green dial watch…? Between the two, the Aquanaut - the 5396 covers any situation you may wear the Cartier in. You have two great dress up::dress down sport watches. Time for a rubber strap or a dial w some color or both?!

For me, it’s the Aquanaut.
For my wife, it would be the Cartier.

Worth mentioning.

My NYC experiences (4) with Patek service (Henri Stern) have consistently overdelivered.

My NYC experiences (5) with Cartier sales/service (Cartier Mansion) have been consistently incompetent.

I may just be particular about these things but while I like and appreciate Cartier watches , based on the above I am no longer their customer.

Cartier. Provides greater variety to your collection and the PP is a bit bland imho.

Aquanaut is more masculine. Cartier is a bit ooh la la. YMMV.

I concur. Cartier as a brand & design language are not attractive to me. Would I be in the market for a rectangular dress piece, it'd have to be a JLC over this Cartier. For that reason, I'd pick the Aquanaut, even though it doesn't particularly excite me.
