I would pick the one you like most. I like complicated Pateks so I would pick the 5396r especially that only one model remains now in the catalogue.

I have a 6119r and adore it. Biased in that way. For me, I like the simplicity of it and wanted a time only dress watch. All comes down to personal preference, how much and when you would wear it. Can't go wrong here!

It depends on your personal preference. Different collections, different calibers (6119 is manual). Do you like ACs? Do you want a time-only watch? How often are you going to wear that timepiece?

I'd pick 5396 as I don't like 6119 for a number of reasons including hobnail + railtrack, large empty dial / size, and movement / bridge layout.

Things to consider:
Personally, I love the simple/elegant, so would go with the 6119 in this case. But if money is not a concern and you want complications, then 5396 is a fantastic choice with PP design / complication DNA all over it :) |

Of those, 5396 hands down. More versatile, complications for the win. Not a fan of the hobnail bezel.

I had both of these on my wishlist as my first PP. I got offered the 5396R first and went with that. If I got offered both at the same time, I think I would have gone with the 5396R still because of the complications and the looks which I slightly prefer. I thought I would have to get the 6119R first before being offered a complications watch down the line.
Now that I have the 5396R, I took the 6119R off my wishlist as I wanted a rose gold watch for my collection which I now have. Can't go wrong with either to be honest. I tried the 6119R and it looks better in person than on pictures (as with most of their watches) - very thin and elegant. |

I love the 5396r and that was going to be my first AD watch, but just my luck, it’s been discontinued.
Have been offered the 5227G which is gorgeous but not sure how much I’d be able to wear it-especially at Retail. As posted above, the 5396 has Patek DNA all over it which I’m very much drawn to… |
