Rolex Warranty Card (New Style NFC)

Apologies if this has been well-covered, but can anyone confirm the point of near field communication (NFC) embedded in Green Rolex Warranty Cards?

I just received a watch back from RSC that has the new style Service Card (the White credit-card style that is a massive upgrade over the cheap laminated RSC cards of old).

When the NFC on the Service Card activated on my iPhone, it had the model reference (16610LV) and details of the service. For watches like the “Kermit” this is true value-add.

For the non-Service Warranty Card (the Green credit card-style) that comes with new watches, the NFC simply takes me to the Rolex website with the watch model (e.g., if a 116500LN Daytona (White), that model comes up on the website).

I completely get the value-proposition for the Service Warranty Card (2-year), but what is the point of NFC on the Green Warranty Card (5-year)? Is this a security feature to help prevent fakes - e.g., if a counterfeit watch and/or counterfeit Warranty Card, the NFC wouldn’t activate?

Yes, this is done to make it easier to look at the service history and watch data.

Look at my post in this topic.

When I picked up an Explorer last week, the SA at the AD explained the NFC to me, saying that's their new warranty card system. Pretty neat. My 2018 Smurf doesn't have this feature on its card.

I believe the AD activates the warranty from their own reader

NFC guarantee card bringing you to Rolex website

Hi, mine is a submariner date. But when I scan the NFC card it shows up day date? I wonder if anybody experiences the same thing as me or the NFC card is supposed to bring you to the Rolex website with the right model? Thank you.

All the nfc does is open the Rolex web site to your model in the catalog. It’s to streamline the final sale for the AD so they don’t have to print as much data anymore on the card.
The older card actually shows more individual info from place of purchase, etc….

What should I do with my iPhone to see the details with the card?

Both of my NFC cards (116610LN and 126710BLNR purchased from ADs) open to the Day-date page as well. I believe, the NFC opens to the main homepage of Rolex which has the Day-Date on it currently.

My card just goes to the Rolex homepage. My service card from my recently serviced GMT shows some helpful information about the recent service.
