15300or- Black Vs. White Dial

Hi All

I am close to making my first AP purchase, a 15300or. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a black dial version, but something is calling out at me on the white dial. I know internet photos are not the best, but both dials look very different in the images I had found online.

Black Dial- Seems like a matte dial, no "sunburst" and more of the safe choice. I do prefer the newer black dials as they have sunburst and even grey tones, but black is black most of the time you can't go wrong.

White Dial- Seems almost ivory and silver depending on the light, but on steel models look flat. I am a huge fan of ivory/off white color dials, and if this is accurate I may change my mind and get white. If it is just an ordinary flat white, I might just pass and go black

Has anybody had, or currently own either of these dials and can advise their thoughts on the dial options? Any photos in natural light would be amazing as well.

Thanks in advance!

First of all, congratulations. I am looking to add the 15510OR to my collection soon. Personally, I would go for the black dial. Black/Blue go very well with the Pink Gold.

Why not 15400OR?

Thank you. I am actually looking only at 39mm RO's due to the size of my wrist. The 15400or is too large, the 15450 imho too small

I haven't seen either in person, which makes my dial choice that much harder. Sadly no AD has them, so I am trusting the photos I see on the internet. Something to me looks a bit more special on the white dial, but I would mostly only be interested if it is truly an ivory/silver-ish color as opposed to flat white

I have owned 15300 in steel in 3 dial variations; Black, blue and white. The only one that had a sunburst type effect was the black one. The white and blue were bland and dull imo.

Thank you! The white on the Rose Gold seems a bit silver-ish and ivory color, but it is just so hard to tell on internet photos. I agree the steel w/white did look dull.

White dials are the best dials on any RO. The way the light hits the petite tapisserie is lovely.

Imo this is not always the case. The older whit dials are more "plain", the newer ones do have more of a sunburst effect, with that ivory feel.

When you say "older" are you including the 15300or? The stainless looks like it has a very flat looking dial on the white, but the OR might be different.

Sounds a bit weird, but I know it, when I see the dial. It’s clearly visible

From what I’ve seen, AP used a white dial up to and including the 15300. From the 15400 onwards, the dial was more of a silver color - with an ivory / pearl-like effect. I believe the dials used are the same irrespective of whether it is ST or OR

Thanks- It is so hard to tell, but some photos of the 15300or have that silvery color, some seem flat. If its flat its auto-pass for me, I would just go with black. That is why I am trying to see if anybody has the white dial and see some real photos with natural light as opposed to photos in a lightbox

Yes, 15300ST or 15300OR all of them were more of matte white (not silvery white).

Thanks. Assume black dial is a bit matte too.

Might be going with the safe bet, black :)

Probably because it is too big and the proportions are off.

I would go with a black dial 15300OR.

I love my white dial 15300. In my opinion it is much nicer then the black and I even prefer it over the blue.
