Trade advice - Daytona for AP?

Hi all - I currently have the white gold Daytona on Oysterflex. Love the watch but would also really enjoy getting into AP. The 26331st, now discontinued, is a watch I could probably get into if I added around 5k plus the Daytona. Any thoughts for or against? Anyone with experience or ownership of the 26331st?

I know nothing so my opinion doesn't matter. But it seems like you are trading a beautifully made sword for a very expensive hammer.

Yes OP I own that exact watch and it’s everything you could want in an AP. I specifically sought this variant with the panda dial despite the fact that at the time the blue or black dial were seemingly more desirable. Bought at retail when it came out. If I recall correctly 2019.

Oddly enough I’m on the list for the exact watch you wish to trade, the Daytona WG on OF and hope to get it soon.

Here are a few photos on my 7 3/4 inch wrist

The date window on that AP isn’t centered between the hour indices.

I wouldn’t spend $5k on a watch that aesthetically fails like this, let alone $30k.

There’s no way I’d trade that Daytona for that AP

Maybe the other way around. Your Daytona for the AP plus $5k

I went from an AP Royal Oak to a 116520. Never looked back. For me the RO was to precious. Make sure you like how it feels on the wrist. I have that same Daytona, I’m guessing it is a permanent part of my collection. Best with your decision.

My SS Daytona, 500 series is too cool for me to trade for anything! Those APs are great but not for me!

Yikes. That's a major NO from me. The daytona is way nicer, you are lucky to have it.

The AP is a beautiful watch and if you could do the trade as a straight swap I’d say yes but for me the extra $5k rules it out

26331 is a level above imo. The only annoying thing is the fixed case back.

Not a fan of any of the Daytona range even less most any of the AP watches so given the choice I would keep the Daytona.

I would not do that trade. Your Daytona is the best oysterflex version imo. The Royal Oak bubble has burst too.

A big no for me.

Not a fan of the 8 screws on the front of the AP.

Daytona is much more wearable and versatile so I would keep. The bracelet on the ROs is amazing and I own a 15202bc but I personally dont care for ROCs.

Pretty simple thought process when I look at making a move like this…..I’d make the trade if I’d enjoy looking at the AP on my wrist more than the Daytona. The other noise I try to drown out.

This sums it up for me.
In this case I prefer the look of the Daytona but there are APs i would do a trade for against that Daytona.

I’ve been a fan of Daytona since the time decades ago when they were so scarce you could never find one at a jewelry store. I would never trade these watches for any watch.

"I'm thinking of trading a watch I love for a watch I might love. Any thoughts?"

Don't.

"The watch I have and love is an Oysterflex Daytona."

Seriously: don't.

"The watch I'm trading for is a steel AP."

Door closes.

I would not do the trade even if you were getting 5k back. I prefer the Daytona and Rolex as a brand. AP, not so much.

I like the Daytona better than that particular AP chrono, so I probably wouldn't. But there are AP's I would, though, such as the 15500.

But actually...I'm thinking the 15500 and the Daytona would make a really nice pair.

Daytona is probably much more comfortable and I suspect has much better lume.

I would keep the Rolex.

This is a tough call for me. I absolutely love the ROC pictured. It isn't as durable or tough as a Daytona, but the finish and refinement is phenomenal. I also love Daytona watches, but I do not like the Rolex Oysterflex strap. So I'd have to choose Royal Oak Chronograph!

P.S. I wear my APs, even my Royal Oak Offshore models on the bracelet and not the straps, rubber or leather.
