Rolex AD in Washington DC robbed at gunpoint

Tiny Jewel Box robbed at gunpoint today. Shots fired. I hope no injuries. How awful.

I was there last week. I noticed that now you had to be buzzed in. That wasn’t enough.

I walk by there often. Have bought a couple pieces there as well. Nice people. I'm sure they're traumatized. DC has been on a steep decline with no end in sight.

I’ve been in there myself.

Nothing wrong with law and order. Crime requires punishment. Without it, this is what we have.

Apparently no shots were fired. Criminals hacked away at display window and stole a few display models. Still sucks, much better than the alternative. All staff and customers are safe.

Thank God no one was hurt, but it had to be traumatic for anyone who was in the store. My own AD was robbed at gunpoint last year. It’s hard to imagine being part of one of those stories.

DC has always been notorious for being a rough area. The only thing that's changed is wrist watches, especially Rolex, being so "celebritized" or something similar

Were they next on the "list" to rob the place?

Otherwise they cut in line!!!

Uh DC is not really bad at all. And where this store is located is completely fine. It was targeted and hopefully the people get caught. But the DC of today is nothing like the DC of the 80s.

Many urban areas still are trying to navigate post Covid with less people downtown. But that area isn’t an issue.

Similar thing happened to a place when I lived in Colorado. Store was in a nice area, just was targeted by bad people. That area has a lot of cameras, so hopefully they pick up something.

Luckly no one got hurt. The big guy must have been napping when the criminals went there.

Glad to hear no one was hurt. I live in the DC area, and even though I haven’t bought at that location, I am in that area often. Relatively OK area and nowhere near what some folks are making it out to be.

Just a case of criminals targeting items of interest, no matter the area.

Looks like a smash-and-grab.
"Thieves stole several watches from the front window display of a jewelry store. A preliminary investigation revealed that an armed robbery did not take place and there were no shots fired as initially reported."

I had an appointment tomorrow to pick up my watch that just came in. TJB contacted me this afternoon to reschedule my appointment.

PS. Omega Boutique is right next door of the Rolex AD.

I bet Omega is offended. They didn’t even have security.

By the looks of the pictures, the robbers smashed the outside glass and took what was in the window. I guess those were exhibition pieces and they felt they waited long enough on the list and wanted their watch now

Yes, but you can’t deny things have taken a decided turn for the worse in the last few years.

I work (well thankfully worked) in that miserable city and I can tell you 100% it has gotten much worse down there in the past 5+ years. We had multiple armed carjackings and shootings right in front of our building, which is also in a "nice part of town." The crime now is so brazen and not even hidden. The criminals have no fear or concern with being caught or punished. It's a real shame our nation's capital has turned into a cesspool of crime. Thank God I don't have to go down there anymore.

This is very sad to happen to anyone, and now to a nice family owned store.
I know the area is overall ok, but I’m always very conscious ….the Patek boutique next to the Rolex one.

In DC at city center, is not too far from there, where LV, Hermes, Dior, Chanel, etc. have been robbed. They have cars!

Police presence is not strong in DC until something happens, lots of robberies in the city in any area. One really has to be careful in big US cities…

Organized crime pays for these people to do this.
