30k budget, what would you get?
Thinking of picking up something new. Looking at 30k or under and considering my collection in my signature, what would you pick up?
I’ve considered the white gold sub w/blue bezel, an AP code chrono, VC 4520 and a Daytona of some sort.

For steel, I'd pick the VC 4520. For gold, a Bvlgari Octo in solid gold can be had on the secondary market for right at 30k.
AP 26120ST Dual Time can be had around 26k secondary as well. Even a 15450 37MM APRO is under 30k now. Lots of Lange options as well. Maybe the aventurine dial one. |

Agreed, yet OP seems like a follower of the typical.
All good OP, as it also took me time to realize.... OP, you might want to also consider Breguet, Czapek, Bvlgari, and H. Moser as they align within your budget Frankly, there are so many great choices under $30k nowadays it boggles the mind. Also Omega of course, do you have a Speedmaster yet? How about a nice Cartier Tank or ???

In your shoes and with your apparent taste I'd also suggest Vacheron Constantin.
H. Moser & Cie is not for everyone, but might introduce a fun change to your collection. Parmigiani Fleurier's modern Tondas are very sporty and well-crafted on both sides of the watch. The GMT and minute rattrapantes are cleverly designed and very wearable. |

Moser Streamliner. Lange up/down. Laurent Ferrier Origin if you fancy high end finishing.

7597 Tradition. Completely different from anything in your current rotation and I think you'd reach for it quite a bit. There are other variations that are well below 30k as well like the GMT (I just picked this one up myself) and retrograde seconds as well as time only for even less.
Picture from hodinkee's site.

If more of the same a VC Overseas may indeed be right down your alley as you seem to like large sporty watches. Personally I'd get a Daytona of your options above though. If sth completely different there is a wealth of Calatravas and Patek complications that can be had near 30k preowned (world timers, travel time pilots, or annual calendars). Looking at some of the suggestions in the thread I am thinking some of those watches might be pretty hard to sell if you found they are not for you. |

-PM Speedy. Canopus or Moonshine
-Parmigiani Tonda PF -AP Code 11.59 -H. Moser Streamliner Tourbillon -Moritz Grossmann -Ulysse Nardin Freak X Those would be my suggestions. There’s a lot of great pieces in that price range. I have experience with almost all of those I listed and would highly recommend any one of them. |

Definitely a consideration. I’m dealing with that right now. However, I’m glad I tried the pieces out as they’re incredible.

There's some good options out there in that range.
From the one you listed considering, I'd go for VC 4520 or Daytona, a Daytona looks like would fit in your collection nicely. If looking for something a bit different, perhaps an independent or one of the often mentioned makers like Czapek, Parmigiani, and H. Moser. Breguet and Bvlgari also have some nice pieces in that range. Something outside the norm, the LV Tambour. |

A lot of wonderful suggestions here! The AP Code and VC 4520 are considerations for sure but I’m also liking the Czapek and Breguet suggestions as well.
Certainly a few Daytona’s peak, my interest but I’m concerned they would wear very small, potentially even smaller than my day date

I'd say Daytona if you want to stay Rolex, since most of your collection is.
If it were me, to stay under 30k, I'd say Aquanaut (if you can get it at retail) or VC Overseas dual time.

+1 for the Overseas Dual Time. The GMT functionality plus the larger date make the watch so much more attractive than then 3 hander.

In fairness, this a much more focused group of strangers with many having similar tastes and budgets. In a world with so many options at that price, it's not out of bounds to see what others are buying.

So many great choices in this range! For me, for something near that range (below on a strap I believe), this is what I would end up with:

If you like the idea of the blue bezel Rolex diver, perhaps look at a Cartier Blue Diver (reference wsca0010). You can get one for 5-6K and will lack for nothing compared to a Submariner. Will wear similar to your awesome YM42. ISO certified dive watch, 300m water resistance, under 11mm thick, great lume, great bezel clicks, great feel, great double barrel movement. It has an amazing dial that must be seen with the eye to be appreciated. More interesting to look at than a Sub IMO. It's a ton of watch that leaves you with 25K walking around money. If you want to spend more, I vote for a used Moser Streamliner or Pioneer Perpetual Calendar, or a used Pioneer Tourbillon.

Since you're in the Big D, go up to Highland Park Village and check out the new Vacheron boutique. They're very nice there and usually have some things in stock.
