Icon4 Rolex Submariner Date 16610 "Swiss only" dial

Hi,

I have to opportunity to purchase a Rolex Submariner Date 16610 with the Swiss only dial with original paper for £6700.00

Would you recommend that this is a good purchase that will hold it's value and potentially increase with the sought after Swiss dial?

Cheers,

I don't think the Swiss-only dial is particularly sought after, and not on my checklist if I was in the market for a 16610.

Ok, is this still good value for the watch?

Have to agree w/ Adam here, nothing at all particularly collectible about it being a Swiss Only dial. What it does tell me right off the bat it that it’s almost guaranteed to have tritium markers and hands. Which can be cool if they’ve patina’d evenly to a desirable hue! Again, the big thing on the price is gonna be it’s condition!

I've attached some photos. The seller did also send me what he paid and had it valued at in 2021 which was circa £10k

Nope, doesn’t appear to be a Tritium variant, but looks to be in really good condition!

Swiss only is Luminova, not tritium.

I6610 is an awesome watch! Buy it, only if you plan to wear it. Who cares about investment potential?!

It’s just a nice Sub to wear. Nothing collectible or noteworthy.

Seems to be a fair price but if no service history I would budget for a full RSC service sooner than later.

As for questions about pricing on used Subs, just do some research. That one looks to be in good shape. When was it last serviced? Does the bracelet have solid end links? What is its provenance? Educate yourself, before you buy it.

Good looking watch.

It has been cleaned up and prepped for sale, so papers or not, those are likely not all original parts. As mentioned, the Swiss dial is not sought after, it is simply a dial offered in ~'98 and '99ish, so would be expected in those years. but not in others.

The price is not outrageous but should be compared to others in like condition and age that you are interested in.

Asking too much imo for a piece that's polished like that.

I wouldn't, personally.

Nice watch that has been cleaned up for sale. Swiss only is a small window that would likely have a luminova dial so it shouldn't patina over time. In roughly 2000, they transitioned to a Swiss Made dial and superluminova and eventually went to solid end links in the sub date (the 14060 never had solid end links). You should decide what's important to you and shop for a while. There are lots out there and nothing is particularly rare. Prices have been falling for subs and a sub date without papers in that vintage should run around $8-8.5k in respectable shape.

Ok, this one comes with original papers and looking at the market I think it's a decent price as most are selling for around £8 - £8.5k
