126655 RG Yachtmaster from Rolex AD in 2024?

After the watch market went crazy during the pandemic the prices and availability of everything turned me off and I stepped away from watch collecting for a few years. Now it's looking like prices are coming back down to more palatable levels. I'm also hearing talk that things are starting to become more readily available at AD's?

I'm becoming increasingly interested in picking up something new again, and started falling in love with the 126655 RG YM 40. I have an appointment scheduled next week to just meet a specialist at my local AD and just talk some about what I'm looking for, etc and start building that relationship. While I don't expect to just walk in and get something, is it likely I'll have to have to wait 1-3 years to get something like this? Is there still an expectation of buying lots of "undesirable" watches to be offered something like that? Just wondering what the state of things are at ADs in 2024.

I don't think the RG YM should be a long wait. Are you going to Tourneau in SF? You can get one for about retail from a grey market dealer.

Tbh you should get this on the spot. If they let you wait on this or you need to buy something else it’s ridiculous.

That's good to know. I was going to see Davidson & Licht in Walnut Creek (closer to me), but can't hurt to go visit Tourneau as well. I know they are about retail on grey market, but figure at this point I might as well play the AD game and maybe get some purchase history for once (pre-pandemic I always bought everything gray market pre-owned for cheaper).

Try Kerns in Burlingame if it's not too far for you. They don't really have lists. They will put watches out as they arrive.
Good luck

+1.

These are available to purchase at my AD, they actually have all 3 PMs for sale.

Great watch, underrated IMO. But from what I hear, it’s largely not as popular because of the PM vs price ratio not being great.

It should only be a few month wait if it isn't currently available. The 126655 wait time is quite reasonable compared to the rest of the catalog.

I bought a 126655 just under a month ago. I contacted several AD's within driving distance of me, and they all gave me lukewarm responses. I checked the reputable sellers here on this board and found several that had late 23/early 24 models complete with box, papers, etc for about the same price as the AD. Considering I'd have to pay 7% sales tax at the AD, I actually saved about $2000. I chose to spend less money and get the 126655 right away.

This Yacht Master was available on display for sale at my AD. There should be no problem at all for you to get it very quickly.

It’s a great piece. Just depends on the AD and if there is anyone on the list and when they’ll get one in. Have faith.

I wanted a Bluesy last year and enquired around Jan/Feb and got in in April at which point I asked about a rose gold olive dialled DD, that arrived within months, May to November I think - that caused a headache - and I'm about to land a rose gold Daytona as a walk in.

if its gold, its getting easier and whilst I really love that YM too, most don't. I'd say you're weeks to months away versus years.

Had an appointment with an AD today. Was a really great experience. Super friendly guy, had me try on a Skydweller on oysterflex just to get a feel for the oysterflex bracelet. Tried on a few other watches, and then also some IWC's. Ended up buying a new strap for my IWC Rattrapante I was wearing today because one of the leather hold down loops had broken. He took down my info and let me know to feel free to keep bugging him for the watch.

I've seen one for sale available to walk ins at Valley Fair a month ago. I didn't pull the trigger because I didn't have the cash. It shouldn't be a wait at all.

FWIW I picked up this model last week on a walk in at an AD on a trip to Europe. It’s a beautiful watch— congratulations in advance.

I can’t speak to wait times in your area, but I bought one from my AD a couple of years ago. I was initially hesitant to buy it due to its price, but I ended up getting it and I’m glad I did.
I truly enjoy wearing this watch. I have a rather large Rolex collection and this remains one of my favorites.
Good luck!
