Storage?

Hey everyone. I have wondered this for awhile. When my OP 34mm (or any Rolex for that fact) comes back from RSC after service, how long can it be stored in a safe deposit box, or any safe place without any potential damage to the movement when it is wound ? Thanks!!!

Possibly decades but Rolex has a recommended service interval for a reason.

The oil may dry up if sits for too long
Stepping back, why are you asking? What is the point of servicing if not going to wear after all?

Didn’t get good news about my health recently. I have a small child and I’d like to have it serviced so she can wear it when she’s old enough that it’ll fit her wrist

The watch will be just fine, don't even worry about it. At worst, it will need a simple service to oil things back up.

Focus on yourself, health and family.

I see, take care and hope you get well soon
Don’t worry it’s just a watch, it supposes to bring you enjoyment not worries.
Just keep it in a dry and safe place like safety box will do

If it's any help, I've had 50 yr old movements disassembled and serviced to good working order. And they weren't even stored in a protected manner for over 20 years.

I know you're likely having a million different thoughts over your prognosis - rest assured this watch will be ready when she is.

I have a 70s Sub that was apparently kept in a safe for 20+ years in the 90's and 00's. Working great for me for the last 10 years. Had is serviced 2 years ago at RSC.

First off, here’s wishing you a path toward good health. As you navigate that road, may I suggest that you continue to wear the watch yourself. It may give you joy and comfort and it is something that your daughter, as she ages, will sense that importance to you and pull that vibe as well.

Take care of your health which is more important. Keep the watch in a safe place. Should be fine.

You can store it for an extended period without causing any damage to the movement when its wound, Rolex watches are designed to be robust and can handle being stored for a while without use. just make sure its wound correctly before before storing it, and you should be good to go.
