New Sea Dweller +5 seconds a day

Any thoughts on a new Sea Dweller (50th) running at +5 seconds a day on wrist? I just picked it up yesterday. The timegrapher shows it is varying between +3 and +5 face up, and has positional variation to -1 to 0 seconds a day crown down and crown forward. Amplitude is 230 crown forward, 265 face up. Lift angle set at 53.

Sounds good to me. You can easily meet +2 s/d. You wear it 12h and let it rest the remaining 12h crown down. Perfect.

You need to give that thing a little time on the wrist to settle in

Have to agree today things like timegraphers and the rest of today's Rolex toys, can and many times will be a Rolex owners worse enemy, and +5 seconds out of 86400 in a day is not the end of the world. The original poster should remember this the escapement of a mechanical watch in 24 hours pushes the gears 432,000 times a day.And given a simple fact on the wrist wearing that the movement is constantly affected by the earth's gravity, metal expansion and contraction, mainsprings power reserve, temperature variations, subtle changes in lubrication and friction, shocks, and so on. The fact is that no mechanical watch made will keep perfect time, very close yes but perfect no

I wouldn't worry about it. It may settle back down with time.

Congrats, the 126600 is an awesome iteration of the Sea-Dweller line.

Any thoughts? Yes, give it a few weeks to a month, then see how it's performing before jumping to any conclusions. It very well may settle down to something closer to +2/-2.

For many the timegrapher is a fun way to enjoy the hobby of watches, while others seem to see tools like the timegrapher in a negative light. It's surprisingly polarizing, when it really doesn't need to be. But a timegrapher is one of the ways to diagnose the health of a movement. And then really it's up to the individual to decide if the variance to stated specs is acceptable, reasonable, etc.

Regardless, congrats and enjoy your new Sea-Dweller.

It takes about 6 months to 1 year of regular use for a Rolex movement to settle in. Some don’t change much at all but others will move a second or so to where they want to be.
You will find different times of the year with temperatures will slightly change your regulation and then go back. I see this with all my automatic movements regardless what the manufacturer. Winter vs Summer has them all slightly moving one way then back.

This is supposed to be the most joyous time of watch ownership, when it’s brand new. Let it settle in and enjoy that new watch smell. You’ve got plenty of time to parse seconds.

Wear it for a 6 month and re-adjust, recheck. New watches do this. I have had same issue with Rolex and other brands.

If it's new I'd give it a couple of month to ascertain if the 2.5 minutes (ish) gain a month is acceptable or bugging you, assuming the watch doesn't settle down, which is possible. If it continues to bug you, the watch is out of manufacture spec and can be sent for investigation under warranty.

Some settle in a bit in terms of timekeeping and others don't.
For me, it's been a real mixed bag with later movements not really changing if at all.
I have found that they will slow down about 1.5 - 2 seconds when it happens.
Enjoy that new watch

Great watch. Just wear it and enjoy for a month or two and then go back and check it.
