Was at AD this morning and the Pelagos 39 looks amazing!

I'm on wait for a no-date Submariner but I'm tempted to forego the wait and get the Pelagos.

Am I just a prisoner of the moment?

P39 is a valid alternative. It will wear more like a 5 digit sub, and you have T-Fit.

It’s also roughly a third of the price of a submariner.

Lumed bezel is also a plus.

Subs are pouring right now. Wait time is like 1-3 months. If you are not getting it from your AD, register interest with a few others and you will get it soon.

I want to like Tudor, but it really feels like a toy watch compared to Sub.

I bought the Pelagos 39 when my 124060 was getting serviced. Now I hardly ever wear the Sub. The pelagos is more of a tool watch and the sub feels like jewelry to me now.

As somebdoy mentioned, the Tudor is a vintage Sub with modern day tech. Having purchased two Tudors - a Tudor GMT and the BB 54, you will not regret the Tudor.

As a former sub owner I would consider a Tudor Monochrome and Pink Chrono before a used 14060 Sub. Matter of fact, If Tudor ever drops a BB58 GMT Pepsi on a Jubilee with Opaline Dial, I would take that over Rolex version just for the peace of mind.

Any good overview of the Tudor watch line? I look at the web site and just get confused. What the heck if the difference between a 58 and a 54? So many questions. Considering the Pelagos as a beater type watch.

If you really want a Sub and can't swing both or the P39 as only a temporary, don't do it. It won't cure you of the desire for a Sub.

But....Tudor is putting out some amazing watches for the money. Really impressed with all I've had from them and the value they offer.

I currently have a BB58 blue, FXD black, and Sub Date 126610. The Sub is definitely a step up....it's little things though...the way the inside of the clasp fits and is all smooth compared to some sharp bits on the BB58 clasp for example. Or the subtle difference in sheen of the white gold hands/markers.

But I love Tudors for what they offer and while they have some previous gen Rolex DNA to them (chamfer cases!) they have their own vibe and don't feel like they're trying to be a cheaper Rolex anymore, at least to me.

I'm probably going to move my BB58 on now that I have the Sub Date and FXD. But I love my FXD and it gets a lot of wrist time next to my Sub.

I'm surprisingly tempted by the new BB41 monochrome with the 5 link bracelet. Really feels like they've achieved an ideal version of the Black Bay with this watch and I think it looks great.

That is a tough decision. I'd say go for the Tudor Pelagos if you value more of a tool watch/retro theme. If you want something flashy then go for the Sub. Both the Pelagos and Sub are 100% outstanding watches and there will be no wrong choice no matter which you decide.

I have the P39 and an 11 Sub date and 12LV. I think they are all great and think of my P39 as the tool of the trio. My others are for work as I wear a suit daily.
I agree with others wait for the Sub. Then and only then will you know if the Sub was worth it. If you get the P39 and not the Sub you will always lust after the Sub.

If you want jewelry, get the Submariner. If you want a tool watch, get the Tudor. Just my thoughts.

I have a 5 digit Sub and a BB58 and I constantly go back and forth on which one is better.

Today, at a third of the price, have it today, and from all stats on paper is the better watch, I'd get the Pelagos. The Pelagos titanium in 39mm is a stunner and can stand on its own in a collection with a Sub, IMO.

If you can financially swing both in the short term, I'd consider both.

P39 is great to own but you will still yearn for sub so be prepared to have them both in your future collection side by side.

Appreciate you're talking about buying from an AD but I'd get a P39 second hand for now, while you wait for a Sub, and just buy well now and trade it in when the time comes!

I would say the BB41 monochrome or the BB54 is far more like a Sub than the Pelagos.

The Pelagos is great but if it’s a placeholder and then the Sub comes in, would you keep both, or be okay with taking a huge hit when selling the Tudor?
