Value buy in current market?

I am looking to purchase a patek from a grey dealer. Originally, I was looking at the 5712 in SS. Current market on them is about 90-100k depending on year, condition etc.

At this price point, I am wondering if it makes more sense to get another model, or maybe spend a bit more and go gold. What is your opinion on the current market for the 57XX line? I have looked at the 5726 with the grey dial as well as the 5980 SS blue dial. All preowned and most pre 2018.... most are within the same price range. tough choice as I love them all.

Any guidance from seasons PP collectors is appreciated. This is a long term buy, I will wear to enjoy.

I guess I am just wondering which what is undervalued right now from this range

The answer is none of the nautilus line is undervalued. If you want undervalued someone bought a 5270 first gen for like 78k at auction this past week. Thats undervalued.

value buy and nautilus don't belong together, besides maybe the 5740 because i believe it's not too far off msrp

buy whichever one you like the most because you can take a bath flipping it

In Patek "value" means Calatrava - and usually a past model generation.

Completely agree. The first gen 5270G is one of Patek's "hidden in plain view" treasures.

Would love a blue no chin 5270g, didn't realize they are sub $100k now. Was that at the Christie's auction? Presume it was the white/silver dial, what a deal, still seeing most ~$110k+, often without papers.

Agreed. 5811 grey prices are similar to 5740 retail. 5740 grey is another 40k.

So you can have a 5811 for 150k or the granddaddy of them all 5740 for 200k.

I have not seen any but the white first gen sub 100 so far. I don’t think it would be offensive to offer 95k on one sitting the way this market seems to be headed.

Not sure if that figure included buyers premium but according to the guy who posted the result on IG the seller netted like 50k on the sale which is bat sheet crazy.

Yes it was at Sotheby’s and that was the all in price so an extremely good buy albeit noting that it was the watch only so no box and papers.

Here’s the link

Dang what a steal. Seller must be going hmmmmmm. I don't get the high bids for generic stuff with the Phillips auction today then you have the 5270 at that price...

Recently picked up a 5270R 2016 NOS complete for $115k. Definitely some great value buys out there.
