My Collection (Rolex, AP, PP) - What stays and what goes?
Hi all
I need to trim my collection as tbh some of them do not see enough wrist time. Ultimately I will make the decision as to what stays and what goes but I thought it would be fun to get some opinions on here around what you would do with this collection in terms of potential sales and/or new buys :) I haven't posted a photo mainly as they are in different places and a pain to get altogether but if the people want, I will post. Here are the watches, listed in order of purchase: 1) Rolex Daytona 116500LN (White) 2) AP 15202 Royal Oak Ultra Thin 3) Rolex Pepsi GMT Master II on Jubilee 4) Patek Phillipe 5712 Stainless Steel 5) Rolex Daytona 116508 Green/Gold (i hate the 'John Mayer' tag) 6) Rolex Daytona 126500LN (Black) The one likeliest to take the hit at the moment is the White Daytona as I have always felt it wears a little too small on the wrist. That's enhanced even more now I have the new Black version. |

Hi, very nice collection firstly. I think you should keep the diversity so perhaps the Rolex Daytona is the right one to go.
In terms of what you could add, depends on what you like but perhaps an Omega sea master or speed master, Cartier Santos, VC Overseas or try something different like a Breguet Marine or Zenith Chronomaster. |

If I owned that collection I’d really struggle letting anything go, you have a quality group of watches there …

I'd keep the 15202 and 5712 which imo are two of the best watches ever made. Would have no problem letting the Rolex's go but depending on the dial colors that would impact which Daytona gets kept. If I had to have a 3 watch collection and nothing else it would be a 15550/27315/15202 for AP, 5712 for PP (my main grail piece) and then something on a strap which would also probably bring me back to PP and go with a 5320G Cream Dial.

Some knockout watches in that collection. At a pinch as you mentioned the white dial Daytona would be the one to get the chop but what would you be interested in down the line? Because that should influence which one if any get the chop

Apologies everyone. I had posted it originally but it didn't seem to go through after a week so I re-posted it and then it instantly got through so doubted whether I'd hit post at all! Looks like this was approved a bit late and has replicated the other thread.

Great collection.
I don’t care much for the gold Daytona, but hey it’s charm and story (so maybe you want to keep it). If you don’t want to part with that, then one of the SS Daytonas should go. No need for 3 Daytonas in your great collection imo

I don’t think you were specific about what in your collection isn’t bring regularly worn and why, just the brief implication re the Daytona. Does it being small prevent you from wearing it? And does that then apply to the other Daytonas? Do you wear all the rest on the reg?
Also, do you potentially stand to take more of a bath selling some vs others? Or perhaps this isn’t as important, but it might be. And do you have a ballpark for-now collection size that feels right? |

Hmm. This is a tough one. I'd like to echo others' sentiments on the strength of your collection. That said, I feel that it's a little modern-heavy.
I don't know how you feel about your Daytonas- personally, I prefer the white dial 116500LN, but the 126500LN in black is really good, too. If you are going to keep a steel Daytona, then I'd recommend selling the other two Daytonas and adding an older gold one. The yellow gold, porcelain white dial Zenith Daytona is incredible. If you're going to keep the 116508, then maybe move both steel Daytonas and use the funds to find a nice 6263. Keep the others... Pepsi, 5712, and Royal Oak are classic designs in their own rite.

With the amazing collection you have I would definitely let the 116500 white go
