A 1964 Tudor 4453 - REALLY??

Hi all,

I’m a bit confused.. “apparently” according to various online sources my Little Rose in a Shield logo 4453 appears to be from 1964?? I thought the Rose 🌹 inside the Shield was only 1936-1947 ?? The backside case serial number is 450138. Can someone possibly shed some light on this please?

Cheers,

Konrad

Rose in shield was 1946-47.

Maybe yours is a redial like this one: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=949498

Cheers for the info and 100% certain the dial is original and has a lot of wear👍 That the back case serial number is indicating 1964 production is the mystery here..

Did you find a chart for 1940s Tudor serials? I seem to recall reading that Tudor used Rolex serials in the early years and if that's the case then 450138 would be about right for around 1946 or 1947.

That’s what I was trying to get to the bottom of.. I was just using basic online
Charts and an online resource where you input the serial number.. Is that info you are referring to accessible? Cheers

I can't find a Tudor serial chart for the 1940s, but this is the most comprehensive listing for vintage Rolex numbers: http://vintagerolexforum.info/vrf/index3.html

You could also try and find some 1946 or 47 Tudor sales listings and see what the serial numbers are.

Thanks again. It’s too bad no one has done this with only Tudors.. Yes, the case serial number on mine does seem to slide into the six digit spread in the chart circa 1946, assuming Tudor had Rolex series numbers meshing with Tudor case production Oyster serial numbers..
