For the same price and daily wear, will you go steel Patek Nautilus or Daydate ?

YG daydate is Sooo Iconic, but also attract too much attention since many Rapper, Youtubers, Basketball Star wear it...

Which will you choose between them for daily ?

I’d go Daydate. The precious metal is more relevant for what I’d want at that price range.

DayDate.

I don't find any of the Genta designed Pateks appealing at all.

3970/5970/5270 are another story...

Nautilus. It's thinner, more comfortable, more discrete, still a sports watch, and will even hold its value better. Best of all worlds.

Not a real fan of either especially the Patek so if I had to choose it would be the DD.

The Nautilus would never last as a daily wear watch for me. The 5711 for me can only go to the office or out for dinner, never out and about for fun active life. I love the look of the dial and the refinement of the movement. Can stare at it for days, but couldn't wear it for days without destroying it! The Day-Date can handle almost anything I could dish out for it. The DD40 in white gold is a really beautiful watch. So, for me, it would be DD40 in white gold.

Would prefer the 5811, the WG PM is exceptional and worth the extra money. Wouldn't put the DD in the same category as the PP, subjectively of course.

DayDate, the Patek Naut only has 25m waterproof rating so you'll have to be very, very careful. How much is a service on the Patek?

Day-Date. I just find it very stylish and iconic, especially in yellow gold.

If I had to choose between only these two and I wasn't paying I'd take the DD unless I could just take the money.

I would go 5712r if I had to choose a Nautilus, really depends on what you are after, the DD is an in your face piece and the Nautilus is much more discreet - EVERYONE knows youre wearing a gold Rolex with the DD and if recognition is a thing really wealthy people - in general - will appreciate the Patek and never mention the DD they are common.

Daydate.

Nautilus looks like a Seiko mod-watch to me. Not a fan of the bracelet

Both are great! If I had both in a collection…I’d wear a SS Naut (on bracelet) as a daily, over a YG DD.
If choosing only one to have and wear it daily, that’s a tough choice. As much as I love a YG DD, I don’t know if I would daily it. Definitely would daily a WG or PT DD.

After service will PP still guarantee it to 120m or just 25m? Wonder why Patek Philippe lost faith in their ability to create 100m waterproof timepieces? Anyone know?

I have never heard of this. The Nautilus is rated to 120m. The company does recommend that if you take it in water that you have the watch pressure checked every year.

DD, probably in white gold, but think all 3 colors look great. I am not a fan of most pateks, especially their "sports" watches.

Huh? Why would it be called that? Some might call it "Sporty" tho. That's a personal judgment of style, do you think the Nautilus looks Sporty?

PADI is more an expert here, though personally prefer a proper 100m or higher waterproof rating guarantee to be called a proper Sports watch. This is where a good warranty ensures the manufacturer guarantees proper waterproof rating. If you get an old Nautilus 120m WP serviced, does the 120m WP rating stay maintained, or does it go down to a modern Patek Philippe 30m rating?
