Incoming! (and outgoing)

After some deliberation I decided to pull the trigger and pick up a 16570. I had always admired them as a kid and always wanted one.

My father always had a 16750 (now mine) that I always liked, but frequently passing AD’s in the malls and seeing the Explorer II advertisements of the era I always saw it like my dads watch but more rugged, and cooler and modern. So I am happy to pick up this 07 variant.

I only have so many that I can own however, so one had to go to make it happen. I had to say goodbye to my Milgauss. I always loved it and am sure I will miss it, but I’ve always sort of admired the more tool like watches of Rolex, and despite the Milgauss’s beauty it just didn’t fit me essentially. Definitely a beautiful watch though.

Congrats! That’s a much nicer piece than the Milgauss. Well done!

Congratulations. A superb pick up.

I'd find it very difficult to let my Z Blue go (right up until the second I decided to let it go).

Good move. The Polar looks better on your wrist. Milgauss wears bigger than its dimensions.

Great move, OP! Love my 16570 Polar dial! A very special piece in the Rolex lineup. Still and underrated piece for sure!

Happy to see you've got the dial with the "thicker" hour marker surrounds ;)

Gotta break down and get it serviced though.

Thanks Brian! On both counts!

I hope your 5 digit search is going well as well. Sounded like you had a couple top contenders!

Thanks! I really appreciate it. I always thought the Milgauss was a really cool one, but it just wasn’t what I wanted in the end.

It really does. I think that’s also some of why I got rid of it. The overall aesthetic is super cool, the styling is sort of dressy at the same time, but it’s pretty large, so it just never really quite seemed either dress or sporty.

I really appreciate it! I actually hadn’t even noticed that until you pointed it out. Thanks! Definitely a very underrated watch!

I couldn't bring myself to get rid of either (yes two in total) of my quality watches. I've worn them often and there are too many memories. You seem fine with it OP so congrats!

I too own the 16570. Bought it new in 1994, my first Rolex. I'm curious about the "thicker" hour markers on the 16570? Could you please explain as I've never heard about these differentiations. Thank you.

I agree as well on 5 digits being the best. I’ve always really been a 5 digit guy. The proportions are absolutely perfect.

Thank you all! I appreciate it.

I’ve always loved the sort of adventure idea behind them. I really like that pic with the FJ GGGMT. Hopefully I can’t get mine on some similar adventures. At least that’s the plan.
