Which Sub / GMT combo would you prefer?
I always thought I wanted the full yellow gold Bluesy sub and the Pepsi, but I’m starting to second guess that and think I may want the full gold GMT jubilee and the two tone Bluesy - mainly because the jubilee hides scratches better (and wearing a scratched up $40,000 Sub would be like death from 1000 cuts to me) and the the two tone Bluesy is way more iconic than the full gold reference (and one could argue even flashier, based on the contrast between the YG & SS). I like flashy. On the GMT side, the Pepsi is an icon and a hype piece, but I want a gold watch and the GMT in full gold would be quite unique (not literally, but never see them out and about, (I see Pepsis weekly) and would be so.damn.comfortable.
What would you do? |

I can tell you the GMT is the most comfortable watch of the two you are referring to. So my advice would be to get that GRNR on full gold Jubilee and 2 tone Bluesy. The full gold Sub is a tank and won’t wear as nice as the full gold GMT on jubilee.
I own the BLNR and Sub. BLNR is dramatically more comfortable. Really great watch. Pepsi is a hype watch that I don’t care for. YMMV. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Owned a few Rolex GMT’s in my life and definitely more comfortable than the Sub’s.
For me personally the GMT bezels are to busy which I don’t have compared with the Explorer II’s.

I have owned all of the PM Submariners and they are great watches. I might like the blue better than the black for the dial but the black is very versatile. I have owned a few of the new model GMT's in YG and it is a very cool watch but does not pop like the Submariner. That can either be a good thing or not depending on what you are looking for. I like everything Submariner and the TT Blue is an iconic watch to me and one that has made a big splash as of late. Several collectors in my area have recently picked one up. The BLRO on Jubilee is on another level for me and a watch that I prefer over the TT Submariner. The part of this we have not discussed is cost and where you are going to source these watches. I would assume that you are going to utilize our Trusted Sellers as the time constraints of going through an AD might be daunting. A 116618LB pre-owned from around 2020 should be around 31-34K complete. A BLRO on jubilee is going for around 21k pre-owned and a TT Submariner that is some what current is around 16k. The YG GMT is one that will cost you and the few that I have seen listed pre-owned are high 30's to low 40's. New is going to run you 43-45k. My choice would be the Blue YG Submariner, is pops, and the BLRO on jubilee. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Gold + steel combo beats gold + gold combo, imo.

I hear ya, but I do already have the 126610LN. Feel like the TT Bluesy would scratch the blue sunburst dial itch and the YG GMT would scratch the yellow gold & jubilee itches. Surprised the poll is as lopsided as it is. Appreciate all the input though!

In YG, I would go with the full gold GMT and TT bluesy. I mean, how could you go wrong with a pair like that?
As you can see here, it won't be a popular TRF opinion, but last time I checked, we won't be coming over to wear your watches. |
