Thoughts on Tudor 94110 submariner?

Found a 94110 in surprisingly good condition for a 1980 vintage. What are your thoughts and if everything appears correct? The lume looks a bit lemony which isn't what I've really come across.

looks fine and good price IMO

The dial is a service dial or later version given the font. Good thing is they don't pimple like the earlier versions.

Thanks mate. I did think the "Tudor" looked a touch different but wasn't sure? Any thoughts on this or adding about $2000-$3000 more for a Rolex submariner?

This is probably the original dial. The black dials went to the S submariner around 1980 from the ZUBMARINER dials. The blue dials stayed with the Z for several more years Z

Handsome watch - I do like a T19 on a 9411/94110, to make a change from the cyclops!

Would probably like a 25-125 plexi in the drawer to change it up though. Serif service insert?

Would be good to get a bracelet but it looks in good condition for the money and you can always get a brand new, solid link 78500 bracelet with 380B end links from your local AD. I paid £800 for my last one, here in the UK, so add ~$1k to the price. Or hunt out something period correct for probably similar money/not a lot more (I got a folded link 7836, correct year, 380B end links for that).

Looks in good condition for the money, for me. Perhaps worth an offer, with that insert and pip and incorrect plexi? I suspect there isn't much room in the deal though.

What R-Sub are you thinking instead? Something like a 5513? I think a Snowflake is a FAR more 'interesting' watch, to be honest. Is it worth a couple of grand extra to have the Rolex movement? Maybe... probably. But SNOWFLAKE!!!

Haha yeah a 5513, 16800 or a 14060 would be my pick and for that price they'd come with the correct bracelet. I think if it was a pumpkin patina, I'd be all over it for sure!

I like all of those choices and have owned a 14060, though I don't miss it (replaced with a 16610).

I wouldn't give up the matte dial, plexi or date of the Snowflake for that... 16800 with the matte dial, potential for some pumpkin-ing (but crystal) is interesting, 5513 certainly deserves some consideration, albeit I still like a date... and Snowflakiness.

It is ultimately up to you but a 5513 at +$2-3k, in equivalent condition, with a bracelet, is unlikely to be one of the more 'interesting' versions, I'd say. Good 94110 vs service dialled 5513 (as an example) - no contest for me.

Post an example of the watches you have your eye on, maybe?

For me, neither and I own a 16610... The 16800 looks like it had a hard-ish life albeit the bracelet was in good condition. White Gold Surrounds (WGS) on those dials just doesn't do it for me vs. the 'plain' lume plots of the 4-digit watches but others' mileage may vary!

Think you need to get down your local vintage dealer and try and few on. They can all wear fairly similarly but the 4-digit plexis can feel a bit lighter, despite being taller, with top hats and alike, and can be a little more comfortable, whilst not having the 'performance' of the crystals.

If you really want a Rolex, I'd get the Rolex as nothing else will satisfy. But I think you'll find yourself revisiting the Tudors!
