Which Aquanaut? 5167a, 5167r, 5164a

I’ve been thinking to add a Patek aquanaut to my collection from grey mkt have been thinking abt these 3 watches. Which would you recommend? I currently own a Rolex Pepsi, Daytona panda and a RG Oysterflex. I was initially planning to trade in my 126515ln RG Oysterflex for the 5167r.

Or shd I stick with a SS like 5167a or 5164a coz SS are more popular? Betw these 2 I prefer the 5164a coz it’s thicker.

Thanks all for your comments and advice!

5167a all day. It’s simple to use, thin to fit under the shirt cuff, easy to read date, feels like you’re wearing nothing at all.

100% this. But if you have a large wrist, want thicker, then the 5164a over the 5167a. Honestly, they’re all great.

All great but the rose gold with chocolate dial and strap make the 5167r (and 5164r! but you did not mention that one) a winning combo IMHO.

I preferred Gold over Steel, I would go for 5167R, but the best would be 5164R.

Agreed, it’s way more robust than the 5164. The 5164 is a little thick and the pushers may cause some issues. I have owned both, the 5167 is still my daily.

Good luck with your purchase!

I would wear these all in the same manner as I dont consider Pateks to be beater type watches. I own the 5167R and absolutely love it! The thinness is so nice and you get just the right amount of WOW from the case and dial. I wear mine with a t shirt and joggers and have also worn with a suit. I find the 67A and 64A a bit boring but would take the 64A over a 67A by a country mile due to the complication and aesthetics of the dial.

Out of these three I would go
5164, 5167r, 5167.
I have the 5164r, traded 5167r for it. It’s an expensive watch but so nice.

5164 would be my choice. I think it’s a fantastic travel/daily watch

Recently acquired a 5167R. I love the PM weight on a rubber strap (similar to OF daytonas). The steer rubber strap watches feel too light to me and as a return, feel less premium. The major benefit of the 5167 is how thin it is and it just disappears but you know its there.

To me, the rose gold case with the chocolate brown dial is incredible and the dial has a sunburst effect in the center and its darker on the periphery which is really amazing to see in person. And the strap color is the perfect combo. You know my vote!

I own both and I would tell you the 5167R is gorgeous, but you have to be able to use the 5164A or 5167A they are very comfortable but chromatically the rose gold is exceptional.

I have the 5167r - really like it. I do however think stainless steel is a more suitable daily wearer option.

The beauty and unique warmness of the 5167R is impossible to catch on a picture. You reallly need to see it in the metal to make a decision .

I second what GreatCircle wrote about warmth of rose gold and having to see the difference in the flesh. And 5164r is the best of both worlds IMHO.

5164r is the best option.

5164a steel is best metal imho. Perfect for daily use. Dont need to worry about the gold.

I have owned all 3 multiple times and stuck with the 5164a in the end.
5167a too boring and too many fakes
5167r too much brown and attracted too much attention
5164a just perfect for me; size is good - not too thick not too thin, it has my favorite complication as I travel a lot. No fakes because they can't reproduce the movement. And most comfortable.

I have both 5167A and R and tend to wear the A a lot more.

If you enjoy changing up the look with different straps, then go 5167a. It’s a strap monster (I’m sure the 5164a would be too).

I'd go 5167A among those but wasn't impressed enough to pull the trigger (... for around 15k no less a decade ago).

The brown R looks better on a darker skin (some will disagree, I know) and I find it less useful for go anywhere do anything duty.

On the 5164 Patek nailed the dial but the pushers look soso and the complication is overrated IMO. It is easy enough to add or subtract a few hours from local time to arrive at home time when you need to know the time difference anyway.

I might look at getting an Aquanaut again if they made a 5167 or, even better, 5968 in the blue grey color of the new 5164G.

For some more photo action, here is the 5167a, 5167r, and then the one I ultimately ended up keeping and loving most the 5164r

How do people feel about how the date wheel flips going from 7 to 9 and 23 to 25?
