Yacht-Master 42 White vs. Yellow

I'd thought I'd wait until I owned a Rolex for my 1st post but not to be. I had decided on a Yacht-Master 42 and I'd tried on the yellow gold variant and it worked for me 100%. I also put my name down on the white gold figuring that I'd like it as much and it would be less flashy although the AD didn't have one in stock. To be brief, I was offered the white gold variant but after trying it on, it didn't have the vibe of the yellow. I declined but I was close. Back to waiting. The AD was understanding and said they would keep me on the list for a yellow gold. We'll see what happens. I'm patient.

The yellow gold does look nicer on your wrist, and less monotone.

I love the white gold version but if the yellow gold speaks to you then wait it out, it’s magnificent

If I could get the white gold with the Falcon eye dial, that would be my choice. Otherwise, I’d prefer the yellow gold.

I prefer the WG version and have owned it a few times. The YG is nice but would prefer it on a bracelet where as the WG looks good on the OF strap. But we each have our on preferences. I hope you do not have to wait very long for your watch.

I just love the warmth of yellow gold.

Rolex yellow gold turns the most astonishingly beautiful deep hue in dusk-light. Almost ... orangey. It's just gorgeous.

Love the WG...but the YG is a real looker.

Good on you for knowing what your vibe is...I see several posts here that I have to wonder if the poster knows.

WG for me, stealth wealth - but I'm not a fan of yellow gold anyway.

Of the two I prefer the white gold. Just feel the white metal works a little better with that particular bezel

But honestly I think the rose gold is my favorite of them all. I don't believe they make it in 42 however, but I suggest taking a look at one if you can.

I've had both. Sold the YG first because I preferred the monochromatic look of the WG - found the white dots on the YG dial to be a strange third color. Then sold the WG, because it didn't really speak to me.

Both look very good on you I think while radiating something different entirely, warm YG vs. sober, technical WG. You will know what look you're after, you can't go wrong.
Cheers

Decision time: option A vs B

I received an email tonight from my local AD and they've offered me a 126613LN. I'm waitlisted for the Yacht-Master 42 in YG - obviously no timeline on that. These are the 2 most appealing watches for me & I've been back and forth. I see them as variants on a theme. I love the black dial and the legibility. The price differential is a factor but not an impossible one. The full YG does worry me a bit for the daily wear aspect and that's what I'm looking for. To have such a problem. It appears that supply might be picking up but I've been on the "list" for over 2 years. I'm off to the AD tomorrow morning. This isn't going to be easy. I had figured the 1st one offered would be the decision point but when it happens, it's not that easy (and no, it's not in the budget at this time to buy both - perhaps in the future).
