1016 frog foot back from its first service
Just got my dad’s 1016 from 1972 back from Greg at True Patina for its first service possibly ever. My dad had been holding this for years and finally gifted it to me after I helped him move. Greg did a great job, quick turn around. He put a true dome crystal on and stabilized the hands. The watch was so dirty and the acrylic crystal was so scratched that it really feels like a whole new watch. And it works! This is my first foray into anything really vintage from Rolex and there is something so charming about the rattling bracelet and thick tritium lune. I wouldn’t hesitate to have Greg service anything special like a this heirloom!

Now that looks fabulous. Maybe share it in the vintage section as you might get even more positive feedback

Excellent experience with Greg at True Patina
Greg did a great job servicing my 1016. It wasn’t running at all and now is smooth and keeping good time. The true dome crystal is high quality and really lets the matte dial “shine.” His communication and knowledge was great. He also stabilized the hands. This was my dad’s watch and it meant a lot to me to have it finally working and add it into my rotation with more modern pieces.

Lovely. Not uncommon for a frogs-foot to have its hands a few shades darker than lume plots either...

Anybody have thoughts about putting this on a strap? I was thinking a honey brown calf skin to rotate with the bracelet.
