Incoming: after years of waiting, got the call on this beauty!

To my fellow TRF'ers...

Haven't been on my favorite forum for a while (busy with life), but something very good happened yesterday and I am just excited to share the good news with you all, and perhaps help keep the hope alive.

I got the happy call (well, text) of 'Are you available? I have something that you might be interested in.' ... so made an appointment for Monday and went to AD (Rolex Boutique in San Jose Valley Fair mall) to see my fantastic sales associate. She says 'I have something that I thought you might be interested... just wanted you to come see it and see if you want it... no pressure... if you don't like it you don't like it... you don't have to take it'. She walks to the back to bring the mystery watch in a large presentation box. While she was gone I looked at my wife, shaking my head in disappointment and saying 'shoot, it is not a Daytona'. SA comes back with the same 'just see if you like it, no harm done if you don't want it, you know, no pressure!' and I am like ok, ok, just open the box and let me see...

[Edit: adding some info here, been going to this AD since 2000 buying watches for my wife and myself, have had a good relationship with them for all these years, introduced some friends and family to them as well... been asking for a Daytona for about 5+ years and actively really inquired about it consistently in the last two years.]

Just added some info to my top post to clarify... it is really about 5 years or so.. but I have not been desperately impatient... it is just another watch after all! :)

Don't give up hope... and remember, it is only a watch so in the long run, a short or long wait don't matter.

In fact, the fact that I was not given this right off the bat many years ago, gave me a chance/desire to look elsewhere, and I added a nice IWC pilot chronograph (IW3777) and a moonwatch speedmaster 1861, (and almost a Breitling chronomat which I didn't get but was very close to.)

The shortage on the Rolex side is not all that bad, when you think how it leads you to alternative choices that are VERY NICE too!

Wow Congrats! They must really like you at Valley Fair, that’s a hard AD to get allocations from. Wear it in good health!

I agree with you on that... there are A LOT of collectors in the area (mostly are members on this forum too I assume), and they are all after the hard to get stuff. So yes, HUGE competition locally means longer waits.

I would like to think they love me there (who doesn't) but I think it was my turn after many (many) others got theirs first. :)
