Surprise “Inheritance”

In April 2024, my mother passed away from complications of scleroderma. We have been pretty slow about going through her stuff. But my sister finally started and recently found what I believe is a Meisterstuck Classique. The cool thing is that my mother kept almost everything so it included a newspaper clip about the store where she bought it (sadly now out of business) and the case with booklets. She even has refills that she dated in 2006. I’ve got a couple of FPs, but have been switching to rollerballs and ballpoints for daily use. I’m happy to welcome my mother’s pen to my collection. It’s a cool way to remember her every time I use it.

Very cool! Condolences to your family. Montblanc are/were fantastic (especially back in the day).

Appreciate the comments and sympathy. In the end, her quality of life was very poor so it was time.

The cool thing about the pen is that I didn't even know she had it or that she even cared about pens. It is now my primary daily use pen so I think about her every time I use it.

My condolences!

Those are lovely pens!

It seems you have a Montblanc JFK ballpoint and either a burgundy MB fountain pen or a rollerball. Not sure what the top one is. I would like to see them uncapped.

So I don't have a complete collection photo (yet) like my watches. But in the picture with my mother's burgundy ballpoint is my JFK ballpoint and my Victor Hugo Rollerball (purchased from a fellow RF member). I also have a JFK FP and a Meisterstuck FP.

TY for the update.

The nice thing about your mother's pen is, as you state, the memory of her when you use it. That must be lovely! I envy that.

Absolutely. I have what I think is a great pen collection, but not even my most "valuable" pen brings as much joy to me as pulling out my mother's pen. Same thing with watches. There is market value and the extra value because of the story behind it.
