Inherited watch need help with

I inherited this from my father and have no clue except he always loved it. The back is engraved with his name and a number 15475899?? Here are some pictures of it. If anyone knows something or has ideas for me to try to figure it out, please let me know! Thank you so much.

Can't tell you anything about the watch but I'll bet the number is his military serial number. Mine was 13988472... after 40 years I still remember... I think they tattoo it on your brain.

Woody -- thanks so much at least that is one mystery solved!! I looked at dad's air force papers and your right - that was his service number!

1950's Rolex Oyster Perpetual Chronometer with an attractive honeycomb,quarter arabic dial with red depth ratings.The bracelet is aftermarket.
