Roger ! How was the 94 Beringer ? I have 6 94’s plus quite a few 97’s. The 94 I haven’t opened but the 97 we’re all very nice I should try one soon. They have to be fantastic, any loss in in the neck, how was the cork. Uggg I have to open these 1994 soon. I had some 1997, forget the vineyard though ? at the GTG last April, I’ll have to find the pictures but both were corked so bad. I was pissed, first time for everything though. Quite embarrassing but that’s what happens once in a while with this stuff Cheers Happy New Year

Also we also spent about 2 weeks in October in France/Italy We had some outrageous Châteauneuf-du-Pape in France then in Florence Italy had a lot Brunello and Chianti. Both were fantastic and plentiful, wife loved the Chianti and always liked CdP. Can’t wait to go back and explore more. In Mexico a few weeks ago visiting a Mexican ![]()

Happy New Year my friend!! The ‘94 was FANTASTIC!! I was really pleased. I had opened a few ‘94s over the last cpl of years both 750s and 1.5s and was really less than enthused about them - but if this is an indication as to how they’re drinking now — I would definitely recommend opening. Ullage was fine - no significant loss (still shoulder level) - the cork was soft - and wanted to break - but I got it in one piece. One thing I would say though - is leave it in the bottle - and drink it in one sitting — it still had an amazing amount of fruit and a wonderful plum color - but started fading quickly. I opened it with the wife and a couple friends - and put a bit of argon in the bottle and corked it while we were enjoying it - to keep it ‘alive’ as long as we could!! A corked bottle happens every so often - especially with these older vintages. We could talk for hours about various wineries and their bottling processes - especially from the 90s vintages. Cain is some of the worst — Seavey is some of the best - in my experiences — but it definitely happens. Cheers my friend!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Very nice my friend!!! The wife and I always enjoy finding some gems on our travels — especially small production vintners that aren’t locally available — there are SO MANY Bordeaux’s, CdPs and Barolos and Brunellos (amongst others) that just aren’t distributed. ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Well after a looooooooong week and a string of bad luck, I as able to pick this up today via trade. As much as I want to open it I'll more than likely wait another 5-7 years. My first bottle of first growth though so it's special to me in that respect.
![]() And of course on the way up there my wife's car battery dies AND my cell phone turned itself into a brick. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Simply...The Wine Thread
Just ‘old reliable’ for a relaxing Friday evening....one of my top go-to, ‘anytime’ wines. It just never disappoints.

All Dom is Brut champagne, dry. They don't make a sec, demi-sec or doux champagne.

Picked this one up in Lima Peru, Malbec Merlot Reserva. It is sweet and fruit forward with hints of currant and cherries.
It's fun to bring wine back from our travels and enjoy them several years later. ![]() ![]() ![]()

You have more patience than I (or a deeper cellar), but agree it's nice to get to "re-live" the travels via a bottle of wine you brought back! |

Changed out the tag on our wine locker at a local steakhouse and grabbed a nice bottle of Pinot Noir for dinner.

Some Chardonnay tonight, I'm not much of a white wine drinker but the wife enjoys this one and it went well with the lasagna tonight.
