New Explorer 1 on my 7.5" Wrist
I also have a 7 inch wrist and got to see the new 124270 in person yesterday …….( thanks OCwatchGuy ).
Much like Otto above I liked the modern construction and design choices on the dial. The 36mm case looks small but classically sized and I could go either way with it…. Definitely more dressy and less sporty. The gloss dial and larger numerals along with the AR do make it look better on wrist to me than the vintage 36mm explorers did, same with the previous gen 36mm OP. I was also struck by the taper down to 14mm and the smaller clasp which does appear comfortable but dainty. The 19mm lugs do heals with the head shape and presence on wrist but the watch would have been more substantial with a taper to 16 and a similar thickness clasp like on the MKII. Watch is of cource extremely comfortable but I suspect it will look better with winter clothing/ sleeves verses t shirts and beach shorts. It’s also noticeably thicker in feel due to the smaller case size though on wrist the height is almost the same. Here are two pictures on a flat 7 inch wrist. One zoomed in, other standard iPhone wide lens close to watch. And here’s my MK II Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Both look great on your wrist; although I usually lean 36, the 39 actually looks slightly more proportional on your wrist IMO. Wear in good health

i would have thought a preference would have emerged by now.
do you find your self alternating between the two? what are you enjoying the most about each model.? |

I prefer the dial on the 39mm I prefer the dial size on the 36mm I prefer the fit and feel of the 36mm. It is more under the radar than the 39mm I am going to give it another week, alternating between the two. Just when I think I have come to a conclusion with a clear cut winner... I change my mind. I actually really like BOTH references. Still trying to figure this out. |

they are different enough on wrist that i feel you on the dilemma.
unlike the current sub / sea dweller the two explorers project a very different vibe on wrist. I can see how there a lot to like about both..... but keeping both would feel pretty redundant. Im assuming that if I'm able to get a 124 then id expect to end up with a clear preference, curious to hear where yours lands when it happens. |
