Not to take work away but USA is better than sending to Hong Kong ! Albeit you do get what you pay for!

There maybe a few people out there who can do this work, but on the face of all the internet exposure to Michael Young, and his back log. His experience is second to none. This issue of bracelet repair is delicate work. Its so delicate that Rolex claim they do it in their " servicing your Rolex "website. Its a te page description of what you get for this service which includes meticulously refinishing your bracelet and replacing worn parts found on page 6 of the service provided. Of course they don't really do that and is the subject of litigation right now.

When Michael young can take a 5,000 dollar bracelet and " Fix It" to almost undetectable repair for 500 dollars or an 1100 dollar SS bracelet for 200 dollars. The credit goes to him, and obviously he is the Go too guy in this area. I could not find anyone who does this work to his level of quality. So he is the only choice for me. If it takes a week or two longer to send it to the " master" then two weeks is a small price to pay. At least this is my opinion. Michael has so much work, its reflected in his work load.
The only alternative that Rolex tells you is to replace the bracelet. You can see the condition my bracelet is in from my photos. This is how I got it back from Rolex NY after spending 1100 dollars for service, which they say in their website, We will return your watch in a condition that makes it appear to be brand new. Part of that service is repairing and polishing the bracelet. Their out is they say the bracelet is beyond repair. Obviously Michael young knows better than Rolex. As you can see in my photos my bracelet never saw a polishing wheel. in fact, if you have been following my RSC NY Saga, the before and after pictures suggest they made the bracelet much worse while there at RSC NY.

Mike is well known or his work , he works at his time , and for the price , and the quality ,, ill wait .
i think its a sin that rolex dont offer a comparable service , with exchange as an option.

I have never heard of anyone performing this type of restoration. I had 1 watchmaker say he would "attempt" a restoration on my president bracelet for $4k usd.

How does he "fix" it? Get it all tight again like a new one?

I think MY does that work for 500 dollars. plus the cost of any link he cant fix, which is rare.

When I had mine done it was $1k plus any extra gold he had to add. My total was $1100 all in. Well worth it considering the other options.

I apologize for not searching deep enough to find this thread. It shows very clear evidence of Michael's work, all the way back to 2006. So for the last 8 years, members have been sending their bracelets to him with nothing but praise. I can not find one single negative about his work. Most recognize the time it takes to send , wait and then receive your bracelet. IN this former thread, there are many before and after photos.
I think his work should be a sticky because his work is second to none and offers the membership here, a better option than having to pay full price for a new Bracelet from Rolex as they seem to want to push..

Just picked up both my jubilee bracelets from Mr Young. One was for my DJ in the photo, the other for my wife's DJ.

Both came out suberb.

Spent some time speaking with Michael, very nice guy and no shortage of work in his workshop.

I say BEWARE of sending your watch to MICHAEL YOUNG! I too trusted sending my Rolex (an 18 carat Lady President) to him for refurbishing. After telling me to insure when shipping
he sent it back to me by Hong Post Express Mail with no signature required and WITHOUT INSURANCE! My watch was lost and he did not take responsibility! I recently hired an attorney in Hong Kong to check into this matter.

I find your situation to be very different than the research I found. Note I am NOT accusing you of anything... But before I sent my Rolex to Michael Young, I talke to several peol,e here.. about five members.
They all told me the same thing. Michael young exclusively uses FedEx. his charge to retun uninsured is 28 dollasrs. You new this when he sent it, OH and BTW FedEx comes in three days, has tracking all the way, and a signature is required. AS far as insurance goes, Its not Michael Youngs responsibility to add insurance , unless you ask for it. Did you not think it strange that the 28 cost to return you 15,000 watch had no insurance attached. He only accepts PayPal. so you has to push the pay pal button before he sent it. Now you know the cost to send a 15,000 dollar watch is 13.50 a thousand. so didn't you think that 28 dollars for shipping was cheap? When in fact if you asked for insurance the cost would have been 230 dollars.
Now sending from Texas to Hong Kong Via USPS ( cheaper ) would be 300 dollars, with insurance but USPS wont accept international parcels over 1000 dollars with insurance and by FedEx ( more expensive ) would have been 330 dollars with insurance, So when you sent your watch you didn't see the huge difference in cost?
I just went through this and documented every step.

And incidentally I communicated with Michael several times, he always got back to me. He told me he added to his work force so even though his work load is growing by the day. His ability to turn jobs around is based on the quality of work maintaining its high level of quality and getting things out faster. Adding an experienced and highly qualified person to his work force is based on his ability to find qualified people.
Nothing leaves his shop without his final inspection and approval.

It took five days to get it to Michael via USPS...( Slow ) Cost 51.20
It took three days, Friday to Monday, it would have been two days , FedEx express if it wasn't sent on Friday, It took 19 hours to get it from Hong Kong to Philly. Michael actually sent it on Friday and I tracked it to Philly, it arrived Saturday night. it made one stopover in Huston Texas before continuing to Philly. Cost 28 dollars. FedEx Express Priority 2 day Air, with tracking and signature required.

You may not notice this ( without looking closely ) but when Michael tightened up my bracelet, he even added a link to get it where is was when I sent it. No Extra Cost. Now that's the kind of service I call " World Class Service "

Looks great Bill. Good info about the extra link, I was checking your pics and noticed that the bracelet was the exact same length in the after pic as in the before pic, knowing that he added a link makes sense now. So your bracelet was stretched the amount of one link. Super job on MY's part, looks good as new.

Definitely only the bracelet. I used USPS because of their insurance rates (they were flabbergasted when I added $1500 in insurance to a stainless steel watch bracelet) but I would recommend FedEx for the peace of mind - the USPS tracking is pretty lacking in detail.
