Show off your before and after Michael Young bracelet repairs

This thread was not my inspiration, but its a good idea to post before and after photos of Michael Young's work. For the New member here looking for help with their bracelet, Michael Young seems to be the Best at this craft.
Also as a Photo thread everyone would enjoy the magic that a true artisan like MY can deliver .
I'll start this off with my before shot and will add the after when I get it back.
One shot should include the bracelet before flex

Excellent idea and a very nice kick off. I am waiting a GMT 1988 Fat lady oyster bracelet restored, will arrive shortly, but have not taken pictures of "before". Will post after only :(

I could be dead by the time I get my bracelet back... I had the thought. I thought it was a good idea. Ive seen people post their results in many different threads. It would be nice to have one thread with every type of bracelet that Michael has repaired for people on this forum. It would have made more sense if you did not add your negativity to this post. This thread is not about me , its about Michael's work.

I can always add the after picture to my offering when I get the bracelet back. There are enough people on this forum with before and after pictures to show off Michael's work.

If the watch was bad enough to send it off, then the after picture will show what he has done. Of course it would be better to show before and after shots. I've seen some that are very dramatic. The idea here is that you don't have to go out an buy a new bracelet from Rolex because your bracelet is stretched or scratched. Before coming to this forum I did not know that a guy like Michael Y existed.

Show off your before and after Michael Young bracelet repairs

I got mine back yesterday after 6 short weeks. I can't think of a better way to spend ~$200 on your Rolex. I don't have a before shot, but it was similar to yours. Cheers!

In addition to removing the "stretch" it's now in mint condition.

Thank you, IM torn between letting people know that sometimes my meds take over my computer and I come off as someone less than ideal. I do not like to further any drama about my health . I'm here to talk about watches and related issues, and offer any insight I can muster. IM also a wealth of useless knowledge, and on a rare occasion, offer something useful. I'm one of those guys who don't pull any punches. I tell it like it is, and over the years I've tried to do it in a tactful way.. I'm slowly getting there.

You're very welcome. And heck, I would much rather have someone tell me straight up, than do a dance by walking on glass.

To get back to the topic (and sorry if I offended by taking it off topic), I really look forward to hearing/seeing how your bracelet turns out. I still have to get up the courage to send mine to over-seas....even with the reputation MY has. Yours could be like mine :)

I applaud you for your dignity in the face of such adversity. I too have a severe health condition and this forum has helped me through many a dark night and day. I have absolutely nothing original to add to any of this technical stuff. I just went on and spent the money for a new 93250 band and mounted my original buckle onto a very nice leather strap but the new tight oyster bracelet looks and feels so right I'll probably never mount it, even bought custom end links. Sometimes I wonder about me.😨 I'm open to offers on my old band by the way. I'll be taking pics and listing it tonight.

Will keep you in my prayers.

As requested...

You can see his before and after work on my 1625's folded-link jubilee band here... I started mine as you did, with only the before picture, and updated when received with restoration completed.

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...=271684&page=2

I'd use him again in a heartbeat.

I would like to add your before and after photos here in this thread about Michael Young's work, for the sake of those who think ( like I did ) that buying a new bracelet was the only alternative. Especially when Rolex tells you so.

I wont add them without you permission or you could add them to your post in this thread. Even though you provided the link, many people wont follow a link and would prefer to see different styles of repair on different bracelets that MY has fixed.
Again I appreciate the kind words and prayers but I'm trying to keep the drama way down. Especially here in a Watch forum.

Here's one he did for me a while ago. Was blown away by the results! That bracelet was the worst I had ever seen when I bought it, and apart from the missing metal (which he cannot fix), it came back looking like new!

Still hard to believe there's only one person in the world who does this.
There are others that do this work. MY is just the most well known on various forums. It's actually not that difficult a process for a competent watchmaker.

That's the rub. M.Y. has no problems fixing bracelets that Rolex can't handle. So where is the level of competence?
All they want to do is sell you a1050 or a 2500, or 5000 dollar bracelet. They won't ever put a polishing wheel to a bracelet knowing that if they grab your old bracelet and sell you a new one , its more profit for them. M.Y. turns a 5000 dollar expense in to a 500 dollar repair.

I'd be interested in hearing who else provides this service. I have yet to hear of any alternative.

This is great to know. I thought our only hope (when it came to bracelet restoration) was MY. I've taken mine to a few watchmakers, only to have it sit for a month before they told me they could not allocate or create the parts. :(
