I'm 23 and just bought a 116234 (Datejust 36mm) to accompany my BLNR. Therewithal, I know a lot of people who love the 36mm datejust, it's just a pure classic that imo should never leave. Just as a sub should stay 40mm.

IMO the 36mm isn't going anywhere. It's the perfect size for a dress watch. I could see Rolex offering a 39mm DJ to their collection. I believe Rolex is realizing that 41mm for a dress watch is simply too large. the 39mm would have been absolutely perfect.

Some reviews say that the DD 36 wears "larger"....if that's the case, any explanation as to why it wears larger??

All i can tell you is that the current 6 digit ref's case is by a very small margin wider than the previous gen. However, it's not as obvious as it is with the current DJ 36, where you can clearly see its wider shoulders and lugs; this might wear a little larger, but the DD, wouldn't say so.

i think they will cut the 41mm. No offence to Rolex or who own a 41mm DD, but its not proportional. The upper links are too long, the case creates a gap between the wrist because its big, it does not seat the wrist like a 36mm does. The 36mm is the flagship DD size, the 40mm is a different look in my opinion. The 40mm is the modern cutting edge DD, the 36mm is the classic.

I love the 36mm. 40mm is so-so. The 41mm was a mistake...IMO
