Choice between an SD43 or a Deep Sea JC2

You can never go wrong with both however my vote is for the SD43 it appeals to me more.

Updating my earlier comment. I wore both today and honestly if I could only have one then SS43 would be my choice but I like having both.

I’m a Rolex fanboy. There, I said it. I love my SD43 so I’d give it the nod.

Tried both on at an AD about 2 months ago and bought the DSSD DB (126660). Both are great, but side by side and on the wrist I felt the DSSD was significantly more appealing. The blue dial, domed crystal and the history behind the watch are hard to beat.

Here is a favorite pic. Unfortunately I couldn’t wear the watch comfortably but if you can, it’s got all the right proportions. The JC has the dial and both have the new movements and to me is a must.

In the long term I think you’ll be happier with the Sd43 , the JC it’s an amazing watch, I Love the blue dial and domed crystal but personally didn’t like the outer ring and it definitely wears heavy IMO.

You're not going to know if you can live with the DSSD until you've worn it for a while.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to try the SD43 for a bit, and if the weight/balance of that is OK, get the JC later.

The JC dial is amazing and the Glidelock is much better.

There's always Invicta or Steinhart that make their own variant of the DSSD if you're wanting to figure out if that size is for you.

Huge DSSD fan boy here. I have had both the Black and now JC DSSDs, with an option to buy the SD43 on the spot.

I think the SD43 is really nice, but just can not get past the cyclops. Just not a fan of it on any Rolex, but especially the SD with its lineage. I so wish Rolex would offer it as an option, I would have bought it (I think).

On to the DSSD. I have the older 116660 version and have put on the newer 126660 Black. I actually prefer the older version in wearability. Since it is worn daily, the new movement is a wash.

As far as wrist presence, there is no comparison. Pretty fun having the bad boy in the room, silently speaking " oh, you wear a Sub, DD, Daytona..... that is cute" peaking out of a business suit. They wear just fine there too.

The size really isn't the issue, the weight is what you need to see if it works. Wearing it snug, the weight disappears.

Nobody "needs" a giant diver watch (and both are giants).
But if you still want it, DSSD is The Thing in terms of engineering.
