Choice between an SD43 or a Deep Sea JC2
Have the chance to buy an SD43 from an AD and it's appealing. But have never seen or tried on a Deep Sea.
The blue dial of the JC2 and the awesome engineering of the watch interest me greatly. I am thinking of purchasing the SD43 and trading it for the JC2 plus cash. Any thoughts? Thank you. |

Have the SD43 and the JC1 and love both but think the overall size and fit is better with the SD43. BUT, the JC is an awesome watch too! Good luck

Try it on. It’s weight was a issue for me and I own larger watches. If it fits you then it’s a wonderful watch.

IMO if you want the Dblue, then I’d just wait for one. I wouldn’t buy the SD43 and then “trade up”. Neither are super difficult to acquire.
Having owned the 116660 Dblue what drew me to it was that gorgeous dial (none better IMO) and the ultra cool 5mm thick crystal. Man, it’s a killer watch with awesome wrist presence, no doubt about that. The only problem for me was wearability. Many here will say that if fitted properly, it’s comfirtable and can be worn all day every day. For me, that was just not the case. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the watch, but by the end of a day, I was ready to take it off. The SD43 on the other hand, is more wearable IMO and is better suited as an everyday wearer. I ultimately decided to let my Dblue go and kept the SD43, as I had no need for two dwellers. So bottom line, its Personal preference as is everything in this crazy hobby |

In the long run you'll be happier with the SD43. The JC is an amazing feat of engineering, but for practical use it's a bit much unless you have a huge wrist.

Here are my comparison photos
https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=606884 I love both watches. The SD43 was my favorite when I bought it and I even slightly regretted getting the DSSD. However after owning both for a while the DSSD is just a beautiful watch and perfect for weekends. I wear it more than the SD43. The blue dial is really awesome. |

Thanks to all for their knowledge.
The problem is i can’t find a Deep Sea to try on . Even Trying it on for 15 minutes is no indication of how one would like it over time. Cheers! |

You can purchase through your AD at MRSP or through gray at onl6 a slight premium. You won’t lose much on it if you decide it’s not for you FWIW |

The DSSD is super thick, like wearing two subs, one in top of the other. Don't buy one without trying it on. I think you'll know right away whether it's too thick or not. One suggestion if you decide to get a DSSD get the new one with the thicker bracelet. The original version had a Sub bracelet and it just didn't handle the case load that well and the small bracelet made the case look even more huge. You'll also get the new movement, which is nice. Good luck. I'd recommend the SD43 to be honest, and yes biased. But it's nicely differentiated from the Sub, has the new (same) movement as the DSSD, the thicker bracelet, glidelock, and not being as thick as the DSSD more versatile.

dial: JC
comfortability: SD43 which is more important to you? I have both but JC1. If I have to choose one of them I would let go the SD43. SD is more comfortable than the JC, but less than the sub, BLNR, Dj, DD... However the dial of JC is so unique. |

I got the SD43 last year and I'm hopefully buying the JC2 tomorrow.
The way I see it, SD43 for the week and JC2 for weekends. I think there is enough differences to have both in a collection. If I had to choice, then I would say the JC2 is the ultimate diver as it's an engineering marvel. |

My vote is for the SD43. It's a better daily wearer (for me), and there were a few things about the D-Blue I wasn't crazy about. Like the domed crystal...not a fan. The dial is nice, but it got old (again my opinion) after a while.

Original DSSD owner here. Never got the appeal of the JC dial...which is a good thing as my wallet would hate me for that lust...as for how it wears, once sized correctly its extremely comfortable. It's funny at times the thickness is really noticeable and I wonder if I should consider trading toward a different piece, other times days/weeks go by without noticing that aspect.
That said I'd like to try the SD43 in person to see how it actually wears, but in the back of my mind the DSSD is the THE Rolex dive watch to have....and one not often seen in the wild. My .02 this morning. |

SD43. Just received one and can't take it off. Very comfortable with the diver extension off. JC is pretty, but the thickness was a turnoff when I tried one on at the dealer.

New dblue is comfortable. However, it is a heavy big watch with limited usability for most.

The DSSD is an easy daily wearer imho. Lovely engineered piece with its domed crystal

Choice between an SD43 or a Deep Sea JC2
I have not owned both but have tried on the DSSD and it was just gigantic in terms of thickness and heft. Beautiful dial and engineering feat unmatched by anyone.
However, the SD43 is incredible (not chopped liver), including a terrific dial with red line (3 dimensional gloss red), which really pops and gives this watch great wrist presence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

+1 SD43.
I have held both and tried both on the wrist, and with a 6.5” wrist and preference for larger watches, the SD43 won. Since adding it to my collection, it has been absolutely perfect on the wrist. I think I could do the JC 126660 but I know the SD43 is that sweet spot between the 40mm sub and the DSSD. Good luck with your decision. Both are works of stainless steel art and marvels of manufacturing imo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

+1 on the SD43. I own a SD43 and tried the JC2 but couldn't adjust to the thickness. The size wasn't the problem, it was the thickness. I find the SD43 more manageable.
Now if I had a subc or other similar watch, I'd probably go for the JC2. |

I love my 126660 Deepsea Sea-Dweller. It is my only Rolex. Got it less than 3 weeks ago. Beautiful dial. Weight took me one day to get used to it. I'm very happy with it.

Had a dssd black & jc1, both worn on rubber b straps; flipped both for sd43 and never looked back.
Jc's gradient dial & extra thickness didnt grow on me. |

Tough choice as both are alpha dive watches. Make sure you have the wrist for either of them.

I had a very similar dilemma. I ended up with the SD43. I was deciding between the Deepsea Black and SD43...I like the black face watch. The SD43 is plenty heavy for me and the date cyclops and red writing sold me. For some reason, people discount the black Deep Sea...see if you can pick one up under msrp ...good way to test it out.
