904l steel is just so friggin cool. it is the platinum of steel.

that said i prefer the yellow gold subs if i were to go precious metal because platinum just looks too similar to steel. 116719 or 116618 (blue) FTW!!!!!!!!!

I started out thinking yg watches are for old people. My collection is mostly ss and I thought that if I were to add a pm watch it would be wg. Lately I been yearning for yg or rg dd. Guess I'm getting old, lol.

I like some gold pieces but haven't found the right one for me yet. I have an 1815 in WG and I love the warmth but I'm selling that as I think sports watches are more my speed.

I love the RG black dial ceramic Daytona so maybe that will be the first keeper in PM. BLRO is in the running as well. I'm in no rush

I guess I need glasses cause I vote for "street rules". Then re-read the post above this that says "steel rules". Anyway, both apply for me :)

Full Gold Sub/Daytona is on my list but I need to hit the lottery first, or start selling organs off.

Having owned a few precious metal watches, (and two tones), I think I'm at the point where one PM watch in the collection is optimum for me. And what is that "one" you ask? Well... I've got one in my sights that I think will seal the deal...maybe.

But the number of overall watches in the collection has a determining factor in this. Currently, the number for me is looking like 4, maybe 5 tops, with one being PM. So, if there were more watches involved, I could see another PM. But lately, the less is more philosophy has ruled, so I don't think more will be an option. ("Think" is the key word here).

I know what my good friends mean, I love my all gold Rolexes but am desiring something a bit different, like that Daytona on a strap, something a bit dressier just to mix it up a little bit.

I don't have a PM Rolex, but I sure like them! I am partial to the white gold sub and the Platinum Daytona!

I fell in love with the weight and feel of platinum, and its rarity.

Once I went PM, I never looked back. My SS watches no longer felt very substantial and were quickly flipped.

Form follows function

I will always buy the ss version if it comes with the same movement as the pm version. Why pay more for the same movement? I also don't like colored metal so for me it's ss, we, pt with ideally escalating movement improvements as you move up more expensive metals. As they're all but invisible in terms of differences why pay more? So a wg Lange 1815 Chrono is worth it, whereas a pt Daytona is not worth the premium over the ss version. But I bought a pt Lange 1 because at the time I got a deal that made it the same price as rg version.

I thought I would never want to wear a gold watch as I much preferred the ss models. Then last fall I changed my tune and picked up my first gold piece a random serial 118238. I loved the watch but then for some crazy reason I went back to the steel watches and flipped the Day Date. Now something strange is brewing again and I have gold fever. I can't stop looking at RG Daytonas Since owning a PM Rolex I find myself trying to justify the price of a stainless steel watch say in this case a 5167a that I really do like btw to a PM piece at roughly the same price point. Am I crazy?? Probably

My first PM. For some reason the SS models never brought much love. Don't get me wrong, really like all the SS subs, but this one is just extra special.

I'm a steel guy. I'd rather have a steel Patek than a gold/platinum Rolex, for the most part.

There are so many great PM pieces on this forum; my humble 1803 doesn't really compare however it draws attention in public which sometimes is more than I want.

My issue is psychological. Realistically, I could splurge for a gold watch I just don't feel like I am in a position where I could justify it yet. So I see gold in my future, but am very happy with steel now. Luckily there are plenty of amzing steel watches to be had.

While I'll likely own a BLRO at some point, at the moment I'd rather have gold coins in the safe, than an 18K gold watch on my wrist. I love the look of YG watches however they don't look good on me.

Started with a SS, went TT, then went full blown PM.
If there is something nice in steel, I'll get it. Typically the nice stuff from Rolex is PM now so it makes it tough to go back.

I love and respect TT, but I doubt I would go that route again.

The day the triplets met each other.....
Please do yourself the service (maybe even disservice) of putting on a presidents bracelet DayDate. The feeling of that bracelet on the wrist is just something else!

I just don't love YG... Doesn't have any reasonable explanation but I just don't.
I love platinum WG and TT's though.

My PM watches make sure that the steel ones stay in pristine condition and much agree with previous remark about the President bracelet

Very nice collection.

Love your trio of Day-Date II's as well. All that is missing is your PM Yacht-Master II, my friend.
