My father's rule was to never take his 1675 off his wrist for anyone but immediate family. Now that he has gifted it to me, it's my policy as well. It has too much meaning and sentimental value for me to do otherwise.

My wife has taken over wearing "our" 18238 and 16234. She winds and wears, I clean and maintain. She's very careful of what she's wearing, outside of her I'd say no. Stuff happens.

No, not gonna happen. I will let

Certain people try one on. Be especially careful around women. I don't think they respect the watch nor understand what might damage it. Of course I'm generalizing but from experience.

loaned an old sentimental Omega to my brother in law once ( was a logn time back so cant remember context ), but anyway it came back minus the bezel insert that was at the bottom of a pool somewhere...... he laughed and said he'd fix it...... roll forward a number of years he still ain't ( and I aint repeated the mistake of loaning watches )

I gave my best friend of more than 40 years my 16610 Sub I had been wearing for 11 years. I really miss the watch but knowing my friend is enjoying it makes me happy. Wear it in good health Rick

My kids will be wearing my watches after I'm dead. That is the natural order of things.
My friends can make their own arrangements.

Family maybe - but there are three things friends should not share: cars, watches and women.

My wife wears mine any time she wants. She is respectful so I have no worries.

My closest friend does not have a rolex, but has several hamiltons and a couple of omegas, so he understands the value.

At the end of the day they are all just watches. As long as I know that I can trust someone, I don't have a problem.

I know I posted a while ago but I am surprised how many wouldn't let friends of family wear their watch especially if its just a SS model. I would understand if it was your only nice watch that you wear everyday but if you have several I don't see why not (unless it wasn't insured) I'd rather have a good friend use it if its just sitting in my case. Now lending out my AP would most likely be a no. If I had a solid gold Rolex I'd feel about the same.

My wife wears my Tudor sometimes. I would let a close friend wear one for a while but I'd have to be in close proximity - like if we were going out for a night somewhere. I would not let them borrow it for days on end etc...

How would you deal with this situation
i would never... maybe my commuter car in an emergency, but a watch????

sorry, i can't fathom anyone asking me if they can borrow one of my watches.

I let my wife wear them if she wants... after all, she was cool with me acquiring them. That said, she rarely wants to wear the Rolexes. She does like, and wear, my Tag Monza.

I try not to lend or borrow anything. A few years ago I borrowed a friend's pick up truck to move some firewood. I brought it back washed inside and out, and with a full tank of gas. Conversely my SIL borrowed a truck from us when she was car shopping last month. Drove it about 500 miles and brought it back with 1/2 a tank of gas. I wasn't too surprised. This was the same SIL who allowed her dog to jump up and down on my wife's pristine SUV. Scratches all down the left side. I had it buffed out professionally and gave her the bill. Lend or borrow something as non essential as a watch, no reason too.

Absolutely not. I have a DJ that I've owned for about 12 years and I plan on giving it to my son when he graduates from college. I might let him borrow it at some point between now and then, but it's not likely. Other than that no one has a shot in hell. I gave my brother a really nice ESQ back when I bought my Rollie and he lost it. Never again!

I would not loan it to anyone but my dad, or my son, unless that person could afford to replace it on the spot....and about 90% of my friends dont have that kinda cash.

So if they cant afford one on their own, no, they canot borrow mine!

My father - I would give him my presidential (my only rolex) in a heart beat (I wouldn't even ask for it back). My relationship with my dad is more valuable to me than any watch (but, don't get me wrong - I love my Rolex! My wife is jealous......) But, he is my hero and he's done more for me than I could ever possibly re-pay in a lifetime.. Anyone else ------ not a chance. It is rare that I would ever even take it off my wrist to show a friend. I've had the "whoops, sh__ happens, sorry" happen to me before from friends, and I don't want to be in that position again.
