Lady and Gentlemen,

What watch show time more visible Explorer or Explorer II with the black dial? This question is especially for the members who have both models. On what watch you can recognize the time faster (during day, night, different weather conditions), Explorer or Explorer II with the black dial?

I own the White (Polar) dial and never had an issue but some members do claim that the white dial is harder to read during very bright conditions.........had no experience with the black.

Are there any particular lighting or eyesight conndoitions you are concerned about?

Thanks for reply. No, just a regular conditions:during day, night, different weather conditions.

I recently swapped out my black for the white and I can say that the white is more legible than the black. I say this because the smears that can appear on the crystal really show with the black which obstructs the legibility of the dial. I don't see this on the white.

The black hands contrast a lot more on the white so they stand out, but they are not as flashy nor do they provide the warmth of the WG hands on the black dial.

Tough choice

i've owned the Explorer II black dial and i would rather have the white one any day

I have an EXP II (white), but I have to assume the EXP is going to provde for a quicker reading of time. No Cyclops, no date, no fourth hand, no distrating bezel with numerals on it, and the dial on the EXP has numerals, which means the EXP has a clean, clear, simple and easy to read dial which I think would be hard to beat by any watch.

Having said that I have never had any issue reading time quickly with my EXP II and of all of my watches, I find it it is one of, if not the easiest to read quickly (with the possible exception of my Bathys 100 Auto).

Note: I do not want to compare Explorer II with different color dials.
I would like to compare Explorer I and Explorer II with the black dial.

I can't compare the Explorer to the Explorer II but I can give you my thoughts regarding the Explorer vs GMT, which is similar. The Explorer is by far the easiest dial to read of all my watches. Simple, no distractions and the hands really stand out against the dial.

Both models are pretty easy to see..

The dial is the same size, only the case is different, so the hands are identical. I would give the edge to the Explorer because it is quicker to zero in on the 3-6-9-dial....

i think you can also have the same problems with the daytona black face, sometimes it appears had to see the display or it looks to busy, what do you think?

I would think the Explorer would be easier to read without the Cyclops and the fourth hand.

My II is much more readable without the Cyclops clutter:

Steve, mine came with the "bubble" which I removed after a couple of weeks.
