I would keep the sea dweller and sell the Daytona. I sold my Daytona and picked up the yellow gold blue dial sub. Kept my SD. Although I rarely wear it, I like having it. I’m going to sell off my new 126710BLNR soon to help fund another pm piece.

Based on your original question and where my head is at now, I’d trade the Daytona for the YG Sub. You also talked about getting out of the President but being unsure about not having a dress watch. I’d suggest looking at some more “dressy” watches like A.Lange & Söhne Saxonia, Vacheron Patrimony or Patek Calatrava. Decide if you like them better than the President. You might find a nice trade there too, assuming you are open to other brands.

I'd move the day date and your Daytona. Get something more contemporary, PM (white gold or platinum) on an oysterflex.

I consolidated to get a 116618LN and am very happy. The LB was too "bright" for my taste. I was going to put the 16600 into the trade deal but can't part with it. I'd lose if I ever wanted to replace it and so it stays. I have Rubber B and Everest straps for it, including the brown leather with endlinks.

I took a loss on the overall trade deal but it got me where I want to be so that is a huge factor.

I am 33 years old, is DD40 too old for me? I love the bracelet looks but wish it was as secure as sports models. The only downside of doing is would be I would not have a true dress watch in my collection. Thank you in advance for your input.

Hi Michael, I would move the DD40 for the PM Sub in a heartbeat. No way I would let the 500 and a classic, timeless 16600, go. Over the last three decades, I went from many SS down to a few and a good number of PM pieces, then back to more SS pieces at twice (some three times) the amount I sold them for to acquire the PM pieces
And I agree with you, nothing fun about being in between links with a concealed clasp that does not allow for micro adjustments

Let us know what you decide to do.. In the meantime, my LN says hi

Thank you all for your input, I really appreciate it. I have thought about this over the past few days and feel that I really made the wrong decision when purchasing the DD40 a little over a year ago. It is an awesome watch, but a little too mature for my life style. I wanted to go for more of a unique look (you typically don’t see that many guys in early 30s wearing a DD40), but after trying for a year, it looks great but lacks function, mainly. When I wear it in an environment other than a suit, which is most times I wear it, I constantly worry about it falling off and as mentioned earlier, no micro adjustment as I’m between links. Granted I don’t get absolutely killed on the trade (second kid coming in 10 weeks), I’m going to trade the DD40 for Sub. Will update everyone as soon as it happens. Thanks again for all the advise

I think you are making a strong and good decision. I have for years lamented the fact that the DD has no micro adjustment and for me it is either just a little too tight or loose. That does not stop me from owning a DD II but it gets very little wrist time. I also own the YG Submariner 116618LB. I have a thing for the blue dial and once you get use to the Glide Lock clasp it is difficult to go back to other watches which do not fit as well. I look forward to seeing the Incoming pictures.

One last question for the ones who own both DD40 and YG Sub; does the sub oyster bracelet scratch/show scratches more or less than president bracelet?

One does not need to be an owner of either watch to comment here. A Jubilee or President bracelet will hide scratches much more so than any oyster bracelet.

Got the call that my AD had the 116618LB in, so I went to look yesterday. I was a little shocked with the deal that was offered to me as cash out of pocket was higher than anticipated. He told me that the all YG Blue sub is hard to get and he has only gotten 2 this year; I was under the impression it was not hard to get. He also offered me a substantial lower discount than what I received on my YG DD40 last year. 2 questions, 1 is the 116618lb somewhat difficult to get? And 2, How much out of pocket do you think this trade should cost me? I was told if he gets another one and doesn’t sell this one he would give me a better deal or if he has it after Xmas I would get a better deal as well. Thanks

I see that David SW has one that's less then 6 months old for under $28K. He takes trades, so why not give him a call?

I agree. Check with a trusted seller to see if you can get a better deal than the AD. Most likely - you will be able to. This is a good option of you don't care about having your name on the warranty card.

Yes, do it. Take advantage of the super high SS prices and get the YG sub. Can't go wrong. Stunning piece.

I like what you have better:
Diver on all brushed Oyster bracelet : 16600
GMT function with jubilee : BLRO
Chrono: Daytona
Dressy sports watch in PM: YG DD40

You have a nice diversity of movements, bracelets. Very well balanced collection.

This is starting to get climactic. Keep us posted as I am in the same undecided frame of mind on what to push out of the collection for an upgrade.

The Daytona is such a classic great watch....I would have to keep it, and let the SD go and add cash to get the Sub. Good luck!!!

I'd sell the Daytona and keep the SD and just leave it at that. You already have a YG model and I just think Subs/SD/DSSD just look better in steel.

If you sell the 16600 i think you would regret it

I’d punt that Daytona in heartbeat
