Great AD experience in Ipswich, UK

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Sean Fairbrass at Robert Gatward Jewellers in Ipswich (Rolex AD).

Spent about 90mins chatting to him in a cool shop within a shop Rolex section today. Not a sports watch in sight obviously, but had a long chat about where my watch collection is and where I want it to be. Really nice guy, not rushed at all just chatted about all things watches. Was kind enough to give me a hardback Rolex catalogue to take away, and also pulled a Tudor P01 out of the safe for me to get hands on with (it was already promised to someone else).

Couple of interesting things he said. Confirmed 5% Tudor price increase due Tuesday. Also told a story where he'd had trouble ordering a oyster perpetual 26 from Rolex, was told he'd had one this year already and that was his quota! Unbelievable!!

I was going to buy my Tudor Black Bay Chrono in London on Monday, but decided I'd enjoyed my chat so much to give Sean the sale instead. Will post about it when I can post pics too

All in all would highly recommend, best experience I've had in an AD by miles!

Nice! How was the P01 in the flesh and did he let you know if that was also going to increase in price from Tuesday? Thanks

Believe it’s only Tudor and not Rolex. I went into my AD today to pay for my Black Bay Chrono Dark before the price hike as I didn’t want it until Friday (got another incoming that day too which might divide opinions!)

Didnt get into price as not on my wishlist, just had a play with it. Its chunky, too much for me as im quite small to average wrist/person sized. The 4 o clock crown is not to my taste but I like the lockable bezel feature. All in all not for me but not deserving of the hate it got at Basel.

Actually had a chat about the Chrono Dark, apparently there was a list of requirements from Tudor for AD's to be eligible to get a Dark. One was to have a Tudor 'shop in a shop' setup rather than just a window display, and another was to hold a Tudor exclusive event in store. Cant remember the other requirements but Tudor certainly were putting AD's through their paces it seems in order to be allowed to stock it!

Enjoy your new watch on pickup!
