Buying a vintage Rolex box on eBay?

Hi all,

I recently picked up my first "vintage" piece - a P-serial Oysterquartz 17013 from 2000. It came with the original box and papers but the box is a little bit beat up and the outer box is missing. The perfectionist in me wants to replace the box with the same one in better condition and purchase a period correct outer box as well. I've found a seller on eBay out of Japan who carries a lot of these modern and vintage Rolex boxes. The feedback is all positive and he's a top-rated seller with a storefront in Tokyo. Would there be any reason why I should be wary of purchasing a box from this seller? Link to the eBay store below:

eBay ratings are usually pretty accurate in my experience, especially when there are a lot of transactions. No guarantees though!

Save your money I'd say

No need to buy a "new" vintage box if you have already one...
But I have bought from eBay and Japan by the past, and everythings gone well.

thanks guys. I managed to find a period-correct outer box to go with the original inner box I already have. Taking a step back, seems pretty foolish to spend $50 on an old beat up cardboard box but such is the nature of this hobby.

I have the outer and inner boxes from a Rolex I purchased in 1982 and both are a little rough around the edges. It's pretty tough to have perfection when you periodically use the boxes for nearly 40 years. I actually tried to replace the inner box and found an exact replacement for $600 usd, I decided to pass. FWIW - the original price for the watch was $1100.00. This is definitely a irrational hobby.

lol exactly how I felt when I paid $20 for a magazine that was given away free at ADs. Or $30 on one of those freakin calendar cards
