EasyLink Question

I have a DJ41 with a jubilee bracelet and 5mm easylink clasp. Does anyone like the 5mm? That is way too much correction. When my wrist swells from heat, etc., it is usually 2-3mm. Why did they choose 5mm?

I also have a SubC with an oyster bracelet and glidelock clasp. This allows adjustments in 2mm increments. I think this is perfect.

Thoughts?

I hope it’s a glidelock, because with a gridlock.........you are going nowhere.

I agree. It's a pretty useless feature to me. The 5mm adjustment on my DJ41 and Exp 1 is either too little or too much. However, the three micro adjustment holes on the clasp are great to get a good permanent fit.

Yes it’s a pet peeve of mine. I like the concept but I agree there’s too much adjustment. It would be better if it had two settings 2mm apart. Vacheron has this on their bracelet and it works well IMO.

The glidelock is a wonderful system, but IMO the glidelock clasp doesn’t suit the GMT., it’s too bulky looking.

In an ideal world, Rolex would make a smaller glidelock fitted for the GMT.

agree , I have an explorer 1, and I'm often between settings .

But don't go by me - sold off a new BB58 because I couldn't get bracelet sized well for my wrist

It's fine for me. When it gets to the point I feel I need to use it, I just want relief. I've used it and put it on the next day and not really noticed that it was still open. I also wear my watches a bit loose, so maybe it's that.

Never used it on either of the watches I own that have it. It's unnecessary on a properly sized watch.

Strongly disagree. Your wrist size can cary depending on seasonality, humidity, diet, exercise, medications and lots of other factors. An adjustable bracelet is a huge benefit.

i like it. and i use it. especially in the summer if i am walking around on a very hot day. Just enough wrist relief

With the extension out a DJ41 on jubilee at max fits my wrist perfectly I am glad about that 5mm .

From my experience Easy Link is most useful during hot weather when my skin gets slightly sweaty. In that environment 5mm is just about perfect. The stickiness of your skin in that kind of weather works to hold the watch in place, even if it would be slightly too loose otherwise. My Easy Link typically stays closed all fall and winter.

I can size the new Jubilee bracelet to perfection without the need of the easy link. That said, I use the easy link if I am taking a nap or sleeping with my watch on and it works wonderfully. I really don’t even use my glidelock much.

Love it on my DJII. I don't use it much but there are times when my wrist swells (airplane, salty meal, very hot and humid day) and it is wonderful to be able to instantly loosten it up some. What a relief!

Agreed. I would like it to be 2mm. That is a very useful amount.

Absolutely this! My wrist is roughly 8", and perhaps that makes a difference as some of noted they have no use for it. My wrist can easily swell from my watch being perfectly fit (just a smidge loose), to way to almost snug with easy link adjusted out. Just depends on the humidity. It's a great feature for me.

Easy Link is a superb piece of engineering marvel. Use mine all the time, especially to open when in warm conditions. Personally, I love it.

Easy Link is better than no quick adjustment like on my 5 digit GMT. However, Glidelock is king. I put a Submariner bracelet on my BLNR and it’s perfection.

Maybe I didn't word my initial post clearly.

I think most people agree that the easylink is useful. The question is regarding the 5mm adjustment vs something more useful like 2mm.

I think they had to hedge their bets. If they were only going to make one level of adjustment they had to make it useful for most. The 5mm for me was great. I also have a big wrist and wear it with full links. To your point, I wonder how they conducted the research to come up with 5mm?

5mm is too much for me. It made the watch go from slightly tight to very loose. Still a great feature, but 2.5mm increments would be superior.

My wrist is all over the place living in Florida so I love the easy link. I also like my bracelets a little loose so no worries there. I have owned a few subs and dont prefer the Glide lock due to its length and thickness. I like the GMT easy links lower profile much better. 5mm is also fine for me.

Do I feel Glidelock adjustment is superior? Yes. Do I feel it is worth the trade-off of having a huge clasp cover? Not necessarily. Easylink satisfies me in terms of extension 99% of the time. I will take that 1% of time the extension being too much for my liking over having a huge clasp.

I don’t mind it as I like to wear my watches loose or tight depending on the situation and the 5mm allows me to do so.

With easy link closed my DJ41 fits perfectly. I open the link when I put it on the watch roll in the watch box. I feel it helps prevent bracelet stretching.
