stolen

does rolex have a stolen database, as I'm thinking buying from grey doesn't guarantee what your buying may or maybe not be stolen.

Also if you are unlucky enough to purchase a rolex via private seller or grey and you wanted to get the watch serviced, would the service centre tell you your watch is stolen and in that case would ad keep the watch and hand it to the police or whoever.

i recall reading that the service center will hold on to any stolen watches.

edit- as always buy the seller, not the watch.

Rolex does have a data base, but you need to take or send the watch in for them to assess it.

If it is stolen, they notify the authorized individual on the report as well as you. Their responsibility is to return the watch to the authorized/legal owner.

Don't buy from that seller. A reputable seller stands behind their product and if one turns out to be stolen or a fake, they refund your money in full whenever this is found out. The seller should take that kind of loss, not the purchaser, as a cost of doing business.

Rules differ in different countries. I believe in the UK they will give the watch back and simply tell you the watch is registered stolen.

No, they will not return the watch to you. My father was witness to an incident in St James when a poor unfortunate was given the bad news. He was given a letter and told to contact the seller; a dealer in the City.

I second the advice on NOT buying it from that seller. If I see any red flags like this I steer clear!

Use the watch register to check if a watch is stolen.

My DJII was stolen in 2017. I filled out a form and sent it with the police report to the NY RSC. If it shows up for service they call the police and I would get it back.

Just have it serviced by a good independent. Then no worries if stolen or not as they do not have access to any stolen watch database.

Not saying this is ethical...just an option.
