Opposite side of Oyster FlipLock loose, get's caught in things

Hey all! I am relatively new in the watch world, and purchased an Explorer2 16570 (from 1995) less than a year ago. Love everything about it besides the clasp. It has a 93150/501B bracelet, and the opposite side of the FlipLock does't attach to the watch leaving a gap that always get's caught onto things.

Is this something that I would need to fix? Or is this normal with the older oyster bracelets? If this is normal, considering flipping the watch for a model with a newer bracelet.

One solution I found that might help, but I am uncertain of, was removing the diver extension. But after reading a bit, I found that the only way I can take that out is if I replace it with a special link (32-20685). That's quite the chore to find, and would want to avoid that solution.

Any tips greatly appreciated!!

I do believe that your bracelet blades need adjustment, let me find a link for you.

Let others chime in as I’m not 100% sure on this, proceed at your own risk if you decide to make this adjustment yourself. Here’s the link that I was thinking of, not sure if this is what you have going on or not.

This hinge part of the extension is supposed to fit into (in this case) this hole.
Not sure why it's not pushed all the way in.

Looks like the divers extension isnt folded up inside the clasp properly

No that's not correct those hole's are just to adjust the length of the bracelet Sir

It should look like this




Sounds like you may of just bent the clasp a little its a easy job to bend
back into shape as its only thin steel use a set of piles but apply some tape
on both jaws so you don't mark the clasp

Not into the holes per se (my mistake) but it should be IN that recess of the clasp. Like the above pic shows
