Finally decided which Rolex to buy

I have been thinking about buying a new rolex, in addition to my 16700, for a while. The candidates have been Milgauss (black dial), Sub Date, Sea-Dweller (4000), Sub ND COSC... I have also considered Omega's Planet Ocean & Speedmaster and IWC Aquatimer & Ingenuer.

Soooo, today I finally decided to buy a........................... Sub ND COSC! A watch dealer in my city offered my a fair price (30% under list price) on a pre-loved 2008 model

Will pick up the watch on monday - very exciting! Love the clean dial and retro feeling, a true dive watch!

Congrats on your decision. The ND has a simple symmetry about it.

Ummmm...... he offered you a 30% discount on a used watch over the price of a new one?

That isnt' a discount, that the usual price for a used watch.

Mna, salesman can be so crooked. In today's market you can get 30% off of a brand new watch that has never graced a wrist.

Congrats though and wear it in good health.

30% off a brand new 14060M from an AD? Where, please?

Congratulations on your watch!

Clarification regarding the price, it is not brand new, it is pre-used for a few months. The watch looks like brand though new. I bought it from a guy who trades watches, so he is not a official AD selling new watches.

It is very hard to get a discount on a new rolex (or even Omega...) at a AD in Sweden. I dont know why ADs in Sweden dont offer discounts - maybe my fellow Swede Jocke knows more...

So paying 30% less than MRSP for a watch that feels like new was a fair deal in my opinion

Never mind the discount. The most important thing is you are happy with the purchase! Congrats and post pics when it arrives!

Totally agree on the point about the lack of discounts on Rolex sport models at ADs. I'm in New York City where there are MANY Rolex ADs and none of them will give any real discounts, despite the economy. Wempe offered a couple hundred bucks off a new Sub or Deepsea, and Tourneau wouldn't budge at all, not even a buck. They did offer to send it out of state to my other address to save the tax, but I assume that's standard procedure.

Great choice, congratulation. Sub ND is an historical Rolex watch, a wristwatch full of story and charm, usually really appreciated by people who are expert in Rolex.

Stalenhag the Sub ND is a great watch, I have one but without the COSC certification. I like it very much and am sure you will like yours. AS for discounts my AD is giving me I believe good discounts. I received a 20% discount on the Sub ND and just bought it 3 weeks ago!!! ENJOY YOR WATCH AND WEAR IN GOOD HEALTH!!!

I Guess...in Sweden Rolex pricing is different due to the "Pomperipossa in Monismania"
crazy tax system.
So 30% off the price of a new watch for...
a used watch... in good condition
could mean equal to... full retail price in the U.S.A...?

Blame Jocke. He buys them all, so the prices are artificially boosted there.

I think the list price of a new 14060 COSC in Sweden is approx 45,000 SEK (roughly 5,600 USD), so it might be a bit more expensive here. But keep in mind that the price includes 25% VAT...

Then the American Jeweler pays more in order to buy the 14060
Than his Swedish counterpart.?

as you say ...MSRP in Sweden is approximately $5600 dollars
Less 25% Tax = $4,200
Less 42% profit margin for the jeweler = Net Price $2,436 approximately

MSRP In America is $5450
Less 42% profit margin = Net price $3,161..?

Very interesting, either Rolex buyers in countries with superficial
taxation, subsidise, the price of Rolex in countries with high taxation
Or...
Rolex is "dumping" the watches in countries that have high taxation

Let me do Greece
MSRP 4280 euro = $5,480 Less 19% vat = $4,438 Less 40% (I think) = $2662

..Very interesting
